when searching through the current programs installed on my computer i found out that only the activex control was installed and not the plugin.

my main question is where can i download the flashpayer plugin? because if i try to install flash player on this site it only instals the activex control and not the plugin

ok just tell me the procedure cuz i got confused when u said It is easier to download it and SAVE it to the Desktop. Then you download and SAVE the Installer for Internet Explorer to your Desktop, then u said ,You Uninstall old files, Install new ones and one add on for IE into the browser, cuz i dont know if thats the same thing or 2 diff things

Hi stewievader, Following is the procedure you want to use. Download the Uninstaller and SAVE it to your Desktop:

    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Then download the Flash Player Installer for Firefox and SAVE it to your Desktop:

    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe

Then downlad the Flash Player Installer for Internet Explorer and SAVE it to your Desktop:

    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

Be sure to read over the Uninstaller instructions for system tray, and Make sure you use the Administrator Account.

When you have that done, Close ALL browsers. Run the Uninstaller and when finished, Reboot(restart) your computer.

When fully rebooted, Reboot again (to clear all old files out)

Then Run the Firefox Installer, then Run the IE Installer and when finished, Reboot Once.

    Test both browsers here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

Then Using IE, go to manage add ons (all add ons) and find Shockwave Flash Object and make sure it is Enabled.

Then Using FF, find the SWF vs 10.1.53.64 plug-in and make sure it is Enabled.

If you have any questions, just post.

    Thanks,

ok i belive ive found the souce of my prob, even after running the uninstaller and restarting my computer, all flash games dont appear like they should with now flash player but pages like the homepage of adobe.com still  display normaly and doesnt have red x's all over it liek ti would if i didnt have flash installed

so im guessing when i run the uninstaller either it misses somthing or cant delet somthing else because another program is using it.b4 i ran it i closed and exited every thing (including ending my antivirus software process)in the system tray using task manager exept for the vital programs(program that manages my mous, the program managing my batter, the one that manages internet, and the one that manages sound)

also i removed any registrys dealing with adobe flash using a program called ccleaner

heres my info that u asked for

MS Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2

and im using ie7 cuz ie8 is to buggy and programed poorly

also i have 2 accs on this computer and im wondering fi thats part of it

if u need any more info ill tell u got it all pulled up

Hi, Just some info that may help you understand Flash Player. Any time there is an Update for Flash Player, the Uninstaller must be used. It is easier to download it and SAVE it to the Desktop. Then you download and SAVE the Installer for Internet Explorer to your Desktop. Then you download and SAVE the Installer for Firefox(or other supported browsers)

to your Desktop. The Uninstaller removes all Flash files from ALL browsers at once. Then they are Installed separately.

The Uninstaller has the info on what is needed to be done prior to Uninstalling which you have done. Only what is listed there is needed. Mainly just be sure no applications that use Flash(as messenger services, etc) are active(disable them)

Any Anti-Virus/Firewall programs need to be taken into consideration(those that run in realtime need to be disabled) & I have found any Anti-Virus add ons in the browser should be disabled. Those things that will prevent a clean Uninstall and those things that prevent or block the Install of the ActiveX Control that must be Installed for Flash Player are what is important.

You must be the Administrator and use the Administrator Account.

To find out what Flash files are Installed, go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash  Open the Flash folder and post back all files listed there. Any NPSWF that are listed, you will need to right click on and then click on Properties in order to

    obtain the version numbers.

Hi, ok. Now you need to post back your operating system and browser versions that you use. Otherwise I don't know how to have you do some checking.

Hi, you can download the Flash Player Installer for Firefox(or other browsers) to your Desktop:

    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe

Close all browsers and Run from your Desktop and when finished, Restart your computer.

In your plug-ins you should have the SWF vs 10.1.53.64 listed and make sure it is Enabled. This is vs 10.1

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks,
