Adobe Flash Player 15 Plugin problem

I am running Windows Vista Service Pack 2. I believe I should be running Adobe Flash Player 24. My Kaspersky Internet Security software (for whatever reason) ran an Update for Adobe Flash Player 15 Plugin which will not run. The error says "the version of the player that you are trying to install is lower than what is currently installed". I have dealt with Kaspersky to try fix this to no avail. They suggested contacting you. I have tried to Uninstall  Adobe Flash Player 15 Plugin, but it won't uninstall because it says it is currently being installed by another application (I asume it's the Kaspersky update.)  I also tried uninstalling Adobe Flash Player 24 (sucessfully), hoping that the Kaspersky Update would then finish running, but it still does not work. I would like to get rid of the Kaspersky update error message, Uninstall the Adobe Flash Player 15 Plugin, and then install the proper version for my computer. (I currently use 3 browsers: Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and the AOL browser.

      You definitely don't want version 15.  Version 15 was first released in Sept 2014 and we've had numerous updates since then.  Please try the following.  If you get the error stating another process is running go to Task Manager, select to view all processes (by all users) and look for anything with Flash in the title.

      1. Download the standalone uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player for Windows
      2. Download the offline installers for IE and Chromium-based browsers posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows 7 and earlier page, in the 'Still having problems' section.
      3. Reboot your system - this will ensure any process that is running is terminated.
      4. After rebooting, run the uninstaller downloaded in step 1
        1. If there is an error, post a screenshot of the error.  See How do I attach a screenshot? and upload the FlashInstall.log file saved at C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash directory to cloud.acrobat.com/send using the instructions at How to share a document and post the link to the uploaded files in your reply
      5. Reboot the system again
      6. After rebooting, run the installers downloaded in step 2
      7. The installers should complete successfully without error.  If there is an error, post a screenshot of the error.  See How do I attach a screenshot? and upload the FlashInstall.log file saved at C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash directory to cloud.acrobat.com/send using the instructions at How to share a document and post the link to the uploaded files in your reply
        1. If this is a 64-bit OS, there's another FlashInstall.log file saved at C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash that is also required.

      Google embeds Flash Player in Chrome and all updates are released by Google.  Since Google no longer supports Chrome on Vista Google no longer releases Flash Player updates for Chrome on Vista.  If you have the latest Chrome version available for Vista (49.0.2623.112 m) it should have Flash Player version 21.0.0.213. Since Chrome no longer supports Vista the work-around is to copy the pepflashplayer DLL file from the default install location to the Chrome plugin location by doing the following:

      1. Launch Chrome and navigate to chrome://plugins
      2. In the upper right corner click on the +Details button link to display plugin details
      3. Locate the Flash Player entry and make note of the Location Path
      4. Launch Windows Explorer and navigate to the Location Path obtained in step 3
      5. Rename the pepflashplayer.dll file to something else (e.g. pepflashplayer.dll.original)
      6. In Windows Explorer go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash and copy the pepflashplayer32_VersionNumber.dll file to the Location Path obtained in step 3
        1. If this is a 64-bit system you'll want to copy the pepflashplayer DLL from C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash directory
      7. Rename pepflashplayer32_VersionNumber.dll to pepflashplayer.dll
      8. Launch Chrome and navigate to helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
      9. Click on the 'Check Now' button
      10. Results should indicate that Chrome is using Flash Player 24.0.0.194
        1. If you go to chrome://plugins it'll still report version 21.0.0.213.  This is expected since you manually copied the file into the Location Path directory.
