Alternative for HP Printer HP Solution Center

HP Solution Center no longer works to print to and scan from old HP printers due to Flash being deprecated.  I found the following HP Knowledge Base solution https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02463264 that provides information on the HP Scan and Capture App that seems to be a workaround to HP Solution Center.   I am posting this here because when I searched for solutions Google brought me to the following closed threads that described the problem, but not this solution.
