Game Keeps Crashing - MS Online Crash Analysis Says Update Flash Player...

I downloaded Mystery Case Files - Huntsville from Real Arcade. It crashes almost immediately.

The Microsoft Online Crash Analysis says: Solution Found - Update Flash Player. So I went to Macromedia & first uninstalled the old FP, following all the directions, & downloaded & installed the new one for Firefox, which is the browser I use. Still crashes.

Next I read everything I could find & updated my Firefox, ActiveX, DirectX, AND the latest driver for my video card. It STILL crashes.

Now I'm out of ideas. I am using an HP with an AMD Athlon XP 3200+, 2.19 GHz, 512 mb RAM. I have all windows updates, service packs, whatever. I need some more ideas here please.

Just bear in mind I'm a little old lady with medium computer knowledge, so be sure to explain well please!

Thx Nick MC- I hear ya. Everytime it crashes I go through the "send error report" process and I submit feedback to MSN. This version of the program is still being called a "Preview," so I expect they'll eventually work this frustrating bug out.

I've discovered a few new bugs in their programming and have reported them as well.

Hey, know anyone at MSN to school them on these possible causes? LOL

I've been having the same sort of problems since MSN Game Zone created the new Flash software for Spades.

After Flash caused IE to crash a few times, the Microsoft Crash Analysis came back that a new version of Flash was available. I removed Flash 8 and installed Flash 9, but the crashing is still a problem, if only intermittently. It usually happens at the most inopportune time.

    I'm running a Dell XPS400, Pentium D 820, 2.8GHz, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM 533 MHz, ATI Radeon X600, Windows XP w/service pack 2 plus all updates and McAfee Security Suite.

I've never used Flash on a regular basis until now, so I'm unsure if the problem is actually with Flash 9 or the MSN Game Zone programming.

It's a problem in the game itself that triggers it - there's probably not a lot you can do.

I develop games for a website and we had a game that worked fine with Flash player 7, but crashes intermittently on Flash 8 and 9.

After some painstaking trial and error I found it was 4 sound effects in the game that were causing it - I changed these and now it's fine.

I've seen other developers report similar crashes, and if they ever found the cause it turned out to be related to sound or video.

You should report the problem to the customer services department of the company reponsible - if they get anywhere near as many complaints as we got, the problem will be given top priority.

I too have a problem with MSN Gaming and Flash 9. I will be in the middle of a game and the following message appears:

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem with an add-on and needs to close.
    Listing Flash9.ocx as the culprit.

    Explorer just closes after that.

It has happened 4 times to me now while playing the Bicycle Texas Hold'Em game.
