how do i get the latest flash player to download?

After several attempts to download the flashplayer update,  I can not update.  I am using mac OSX 10.9.3 and safari 7.0.4.  I have never had a problem downloading automatic adobe updates before this flash update release.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Error message simply says

"error has been encountered. Close this window and try downloading again"
