I have downloaded it probably 12 times +. I have tried everything I know and keep coming back to the boards for more. I don't know what else to do. I have I/E 8. I use AVG 8.5. I use Net zero and their proprietary pop up blocker. I download 10.1.82.76. I have also downloaded the older version and tried that. I tried the manual download. I made sure AVG is off. My Internet setting is at Medium.I have CCleaner installed. The blocker is on.I do see the whirling F video and it say I have the corresponding download to the right, and that it was successfully downloaded. I go to my control panel and in there it shows the download manger actively installed with a quantity of size. It shows the Adobe Flash Player also installed at least in name, BUT there is no quantity displayed for the file size. So this tells me it is somewhere, but just not totally installed or stuck somewhere. I completely remove it each time I reload it And I restart before I redownload. As far as I remember I already had it operating a while ago and all of a sudden my game site wouldn't work on Facebook. So I troubleshot it. It said to download the latest version if the game won't start so I did. And that is when this whole download problem began, probably about a week and a half ago.I have Windows XP Pro in I believe 32 bit, but where it says to check it says 128 bit capable, I think was the word. I can't find specific 32 or 64 anywhere.XP version is several years old.and I don't have any brand new hardware. It is an ASUS board, top of the line back when. and no problems before. There is a raid system running. as the board was designed for it. And I run two mirrored high speed discs in SATA. but they are almost totally empty. They are Raptors. The board is a P5AD2 Deluxe. I just have 1 Gig or ram installed.I use a slow but usually reliable dial up download. I can't get high speed.I have another spyware blocker in the tray Zone Alarm, but I very seldom use it and keep it off most of the time and every time I have downloaded the Flash. In tools my Flash Object is enabled AND it shows the correct download version of Flash. Under Internet Properties/Advanced I don't know which to set where so I haven't changed any.........Well that's about all I can tell you that I remember I have tried. Now you can see what you can think of. I'm out and really ticked at this Adobe thing.
I hope I can find my way back to these posts for the answers.

If you can see the Flash animation at http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ then Flash Player is correctly installed and working.
Flash Player will not show any size at the right side of Add/Remove Programs.
Can you tell us what files you have in folder C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash ?

Hi, Just real quick until Pat comes on the Forum, that swflash.ocx-Active Control is a very old file. Go back and right click on it and Delete/Remove it. Then Reboot your computer.
You said in Tools, Manage add ons you have Shockwave Flash Object and it is version 10.1.82.76 and Enabled. So that is correct.
See if there is any improvement now.

Hi, In reply to your advice. I removed that item and rebooted. things got a lot worse. Everything stated stopping. I had to refresh everything just to get it to load. And the Facebook App's wouldn't load at all. Just partially or should I say half partially because they are the reason I am here. but they wouldn't even load as much as they did before. So I restored the item from the trash bin and rebooted and things are seemingly as they were. So I guess that's not a great fix. And the Facebook game is still as before.

Hi, Removing that old Flash ActiveX Control file that is conflicting with the Flash Player version 10.1.82.76 and the Shockwave Flash Object version 10.1.82.76 would not in and of itself cause any problems. It should have been removed when you used the Adobe Uninstaller. It wasn't because the Uninstallers are updated each time a new version of Flash Player is released. That old file has been on your system for a few years.
You have several issues going on. One, is AVG vs 8.5 is not supported, so you are not receiving daily updates of the definitions. 2. You have the Net Zero pop up blocker enabled. 3. The spyware blocker/Zone Alarm which I don't totally understand most likely have add ons in your browser 4. If you used the DLM (download manager) when you Installed Flash Player, you most likely have that in your Add/Remove and possibly the getplus.
If you have the DLM/getplus in Add/Remove then most likely you have add ons that also are conflicting. Keep in mind that Adobe Flash Player is a browser plug in, ActiveX Control for IE and an SWF plugin for Firefox and other non-IE browsers. Any add on/BHO/Helper or other ActiveX Control in the browser will affect the browser, Flash Player and other add ons, either in a postive way or a negative way.
Getting rid of that old conflicting Flash file was just the first step in cleaning up your PC.
Facebook in the best of times has problems as well as the many games.

Okay, now the stupid forum won't letme post a reply. This is getting rediculous. Unfortunately i can't review you statements as I reply so i will be missing many of your specifics. I specifcally turned off all of the items you mentioned before I downloaded. As to the DLW and the a+ thing. Yes I downloaded them as well. They were a package. Then when they didn't seem to work. I removed both, rebooted and eventually tried the manual download, which also didn't appear to work. I even went to the start/search for residual items. I diabled the netzero blocker. As to that file. I'm not an electron and didn't run down the bus and physically see it make a problem when I removed it, so I can't say authoritatively that it caused a problem when I removed it, BUT when I started back up all of the things I mentioned happened WITHOUT making any other changes. AND then the STOPPED and returned to the way they were when I restarted the file. So whatever way you want to quantify that, is ok, but that is what happened. As to the add ons. I like the AVG as it seems to work well and I do keep it manually up to date as well as I am permitted to. Now the other Zone Alarm I don't really care for because it does seem to interfere and def slows thing up. So as I said most of the time I disable it on start up.I also diable Quick time. As I feel it is prudent to have a virus blocker (AVG) I use it. but as I said it was disabled for the download. I also turned off the firewall from MSSo I don't think there was any coruption in the file. But it may be some bug in the Facebook game. i don't know. I downloaded another game and it is working fine. i don't know if it's on the same platform or not. BUT as I also said, the original Resort World game on Facebook worked fine for many months with everything just as it was when I downloaded it. I didn't add or change any add ons. I did however a couple of months ago run ito a problem with an online auction site that uses a JAVA platform to have the auction live. Before this I could use it. then all of a sudden it wouldn't completely load or work. I was told it was because my download speed wasn't sufficient. And this would beleive because i get variable terrible speeds where I live. And as I said I have dial up. So as to all of the add ons, I would agree that they could have made a problem, but why didn't they all that rest of the time? Because i haven't made changes in software in a while. Also regarding the Adobe DLW, should I get rid of that once I have the Flash loaded? Your statement made it sound as though it isn't wanted. I do have several other Adobe items installed suchas reader and photoshop and elements and acrobat, etc. I also have MS office installed and it did cause a conflict with the email due to the fact that it has one and net zero has one. but I try to keep it leveled out. Let me know how to get back into the forum with reply ability. When I clicked reply it gave me a red screen that said I didn't have authority and I could login. when I logged in it still did it.
Thanks

Hi, Sometimes the Forum gets a hiccup, and tells me the same thing that I don't have authority to post or whatever. Other times it logs me off in the middle of posting or sending a message. When that happens, just close that window and open another one.
I'll review your info and get back to you, whether tonight or not I don't know.
Thanks,

Ok, but before I get involved with a lot of uninstall's, whereas you said that the earlier one didn't effect anything when it did, what is this going to effect and can I recover the deleted info or files if it doesn't work or causes problems as I say it did before?
Second I never used a downloaded uninstaller before during any of my uninstall's. Just the one in the control panel listing included in the FP header and listed there. It appeared that it removed all of the FP info because as I said I went to the Start/search and looked for any Adobe FP items and found none. So I assumed I did a good job of clearing any FP before rebooting and re-downloading FP. So is that a yes or a no to start with?
Third You, I guess it was you said that from what I told you FP is loaded and operating as it should. If so why would I do this (continue making changes) now, when apparently the problem is elsewhere? IF in fact it is, that is.
Fourth. I received a reply from Facebook tech saying that IE8 does have some issues with their app's due to similar construction platforms or something to that effect (I saved the mail so I can quote it if necessary), and that I should try a bunch of these recommendations and see if they work, which I did not yet do.I just sort of gave up on their game and said screw it. If they can't provide software that works with current popular platforms then I don't need their software. And part of what they suggested was to change my browser. I am used to IE and really don't like changing things all the time just because there's something new. And many of the things available in Firefox and such, I probably don't have use for so why should I change to begin with. Anyway I wasn't really willing to change my browser to suit their software. But in another point, the game was working fine for quite a while with my original FP untill it just quit one day. And as I said I don't know of any changes I made to cause it. I didn't change browsers or download any other games or change ISP or change FP or modify how they ran as far as I know.
Fifth. I received an e-mail from a girl who like me posted on here and while reading some of the posts before posting my self read hers. Our problem or complaint was quite similar and someone suggested that she use a different browser and she apparently did and it apparently because she emailed me and said that that was what worked for here. Again, I didn't persue that avenue.
Sixth. But just FYI any of the seemingly similar games will still not work on the Facebook site for me because I downloaded a similar one to the one that didn't work and it did just as the other one was doing. and loaded all the way until the game picture loaded and stopped blank. So either I have a problem or bug or Facebook/Game supplier does. Maybe both.
So please answer these before I just go off and make changes I can't recover from if my system crashes because of a mod. Thanks.

I had the impression from your earlier post that your Flash Player was not working correctly any more; that's why I posted the instructions how to fix it.
However, I now get the impression that you have some strange software (screensaver) installed that uses swflash.ocx - maybe that is causing the troubles. Can you find out what that swflash.ocx is (right-click | Properties) ?

My Facebook games still won't load. When I try to troubleshoot, it only says to reload most recent version of Flash and to clear cookies and casche. I have done all of that and the only thing that loads is the the game "headers" The area where the game should be is blank. It goes through all the motions such as showing it loading many items at the bottom of the the screen and then finally done, but still no game. Now what?

Thanks for that and no, mine is not correctly installed but not through any error of mine so this is obviously and Adobe issue.

Ditto here, most of my time is spent downloading the Flash Player only to get the message to do it again. I don't know if this is something new but it is a major pain and obviously not just for me.

Hi,
I agree, but If you don't want to follow their fixes and jusmp through the hoops then I guess we just have to do w/o Facebook games. As to the FP download, I think it works and the problem lis in the crappy software that the people at Facebook has employed. They have written back and admitted that they have problems with IE 8 so to me that tells me that they don't know what thir doing or don't care. I mean if you going to put a game on a platform like Facebook and throw it out there for millions of players to use, then I would definitely want it to be compatible with all of the most popular browsers and such. And while there are a lot of people that use firfox and all those other ones, I am not willing to change my browser just to accomidate some game on facebook or their engineers. So I guess they can basically stuff their games. Maybe when enough people complain or leave Facebook they'll get the message.
