Hello,

I have a little problem.

I have downloaded 2 .msi package, one for IE and one for Firefox. I need to deploy this by GPO.

My system is ok, (I use GPO for other programs too).

I reboot a computer to make test and install the update.

No problem.

In the event manager of this computer and on the server too : No Problem.

When I look the version number on IE (with this link : http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ ), the version is 10.1.102.64 so : No Problem.

When I look the version number on Firefox (with this link : http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ ), the version is 10.1.85.3 so : Problem.

I don't understand...

Some one can help me ?

Thanks you.

PS : I'm sorry my English is very poor...

It's been a few months, but I found your post when doing research myself and wanted to add some advice.

I highly suggest combining your Firefox and Flash updates by GPO together. You can either make your own MSI of Firefox with Flash or perhaps use Frontmotion who regularly keeps theirs up-to-date as well.

You do not need to have a seperate MSI for installing Flash into Firefox. You can add Flash as a plugin to Firefox by simply copying the latest NPSWF32.dll into the Firefox plugins directory.

    Typically located here:

    32-bit = C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins

    64-bit = C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\plugins

To do this, download the latest copy of Flash player.

    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/completion/activex/?a=false

Install on one machine and find the NPSWF32.DLL file which typically here:

    32-bit = C:\Windows\System32\Macromedia\Flash

    64-bit = C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

You can then add the DLL into the Firefox MSI using Microsoft's Orca MSI Editor utility.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/255905

Or you can simply setup a script by GPO to copy and over write the NPSWF32.DLL in the Firefox Plugins directory on your workstations from a network share. Either way, no need to wrestle with another MSI installer.

You might also find this article helpful for keeping the Flash update utility from harassing your users.

being as you are using 2 different brwosers, you will need to do the update in both. since your IE is showing correctly, I presume you were in IE when you did the update? if so, go into Firefox and update flash player in firefox. this should resolve the issue and update firefox's version as well.

I don't know if a FlashInstall.log file is created when doing a GPO install.  If yes, can you check its contents if you can find why the plugin was not updated?

Also, no browsers must be running when doing the installation.

    Thank you for your help.

For the browsers problem, with my GPO configuration, the user can't use the computer before the installation of updates, so no problem here I think.

Then, FlashInstall.log file is create for GPO install too.

I read it but i don't find the problem...

Can I paste the file here ?

If you see the problem with this...

    Thank you.

Yes, please paste its entire content here.  I know that the information in that log file is very limited, but let's see what's in there...
