Hi, thanks for starting your thread. I was offline for awhile, just getting back on the Forum.
First I would like you to go to this Adobe test site. As soon as the page opens you should see the Flash Player logo(Red F) spin. Then the version of Flash Player that you have is Displayed.
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
I need to know the results of that test.
On the version of the browser you are using: Go up to the Toolbar and click on Help. Then click on About Internet Explorer.
You should see the version number there.
Let me know that also.
We'll try to see what the problem is. I understand you may have a problem finding the info and I'll try to make it as simple as possible.
I can't refer you to anyone other than Microsoft, but I think we'll be able to solve your problem
Thanks,
eidnolb

Hi, thanks for the info. Glad you could see the Flash logo & you have the latest Flash Player Installed.
I'm going to have you check something called UAC/Protection Mode. UAC is User Account Control and I don't know if this is what is causing your problem or not yet.
In Vista, unless Microsoft changed it, you can have this ON or OFF. It is supposed to have a message from Internet Explorer
when you want to make a change, like Installing a program etc. It will ask you if that action came from you and if you want to continue. Are you receiving any message like that?
Let me know when you are able.
Thanks,
eidnolb
EDIT You may want to go to this site: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/. Right click on the Flash logo, Settings,
then UNcheck the hardware acceleration in Display Settings.

Hello,
Yes. I do receive a message asking if I wish to continue on all updates and additions. Is it possible that I have Malware hung up and I need to deactivate or clear that?
Thanks

Ok, then that is working properly. This is a Security protection in Vista so no program you don't want or anything else Installs without your permission. So that's a good thing.
Now I noticed in your first post this: I log off of FB, go to my desktop , disable flashplayer and re-update it again.
What is on your Desktop? Is this the Flash Player Installer that you may have downloaded to your Desktop?
You may need to go to Tools, Manage Addons and look under "Show"(very light text) Look in All addons for Shockwave Flash Object. Is it Installed, Enabled and version 10.2.152.32?
Thanks,

Thanks

Hi, I think perhaps a step in the process was missed. Try this method to Uninstall and Install FP again. Right click on that Installer on your Desktop and delete it and use the following.
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Uninstaller:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer for IE- use the EXE Installer
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Close all browser windows, you only want to be looking at your Desktop.
Disable any messenger services, as yahoo, msn, etc in the system tray(area near the clock)
Disable your Anti-Virus program until after Flash Player is Installed
Be sure to use the Administrator Account.
Run the Uninstaller and when finished, Reboot(restart) your computer.
Check to make sure the Anti-Virus is still Disabled
Run the Installer for IE, and when finished, Reboot.
Then go to this test site and test each browser:
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
You may want to print these instructions to make it easier to follow. If you have any questions, let me know.
See if this works better.
Thanks,

Hi eidnold,
Thank you for yoru patience. Oddly Friday I was on FB for 4 hours and it never went down. On Saturday after 2 hours I got the same download adobe FP message. I tried to open the link for the uninstaller below and it would not open I received a error massage 404. I used the uninstaller that I already had.
I was able to open the installer link below so I removed the old one from my desktop and replaced it with the new one. I disabled the spam anti virus . Then I installed the new FP. Next I rebooted the system and made sure my anti virus was back on.
I used the test site link below and it read installation successful.
This update lasted 1 hour and 10 min. before I had to update again. I have also updated twice on Sunday as of 8:30 pm PST .
We will see. Thanks for your help.

Hi, Just a tip, don't use the links from your email notifications. Always use the ones I include directly from the message page here on your thread.
Another thing, each time Adobe updates Flash Player, all links are changed. So any from the previous version would be different.
Even tho the installation was successful, the proof is did the Shockwave Flash Object Install? That's the Control and without it, FP doesn't work. When you went to the test site, did you see the Flash Player logo animation(spinning)?
Let me know on that. If you were able to see the logo spin, then you may have another issue, we'll find out.
Thanks,
eidnolb

HI ,
Yes I did see it spin above the successful message.
I will try your links on this email tonight . Do you want me to un-install and re-install even before I open Facebook tonight or wait until I get the prompt to update FP?
Thanks

Hi, I'm sorry, Adobe doesn't do that. I do have a couple of things for you to do however. What Anti-Virus program do you have Installed?
Have you had a Virus that you know of?
That error notice that you have received, do you remember who issued it?
Let me know,
Thanks,

Hi, thanks again. What I would do is this first. Go to www.malwarebytes.org. Download and SAVE this to your Desktop. This is a free version.
Then click on Update and allow it to Update.
Disable McAfee first, close all browser windows. You only want to be looking at your Desktop. Then use the Scanner feature on MBAM(malwarebytes) and do a full scan. It may take some time, but if it finds any Malware, just follow their instructions to remove it.
When that is done, reboot(restart) your computer. Then re-enable your McAfee. MBAM isn't Installed like other programs, it just goes on your Desktop and you update it and run it when you want.
Sometimes McAfee don't find every Virus or Malware, so this will be helpful.
Thanks,
eidnolb
