viewing Flash content on my Ipod Touch

I understand that I can't view flash content on web pages using my IPod Touch Safari browser (As an aside, I've heard that 1. it's Apple's fault for not having a browser that supports it because Apple hates Flash, or 2. Adobe hasn't developed a version for the Safari mobile browser.)

Regardless of the reason--and it would be interesting to know why--it seems a great oversight that I can't view a whole lot of content on my IPod.

So, is there an suggestions for viewing Flash web content on my IPod. I see that there are apps that supposedly will do this, but they almost all get mixed reviews and I really would like to not have to pay for this, since it seems viewing web content isn't something I should have to pay extra for.

Regards, David.

Hi David,

Unfortunately this is something you really need to bring up with Apple.  As you mentioned, there are iOS based browsers that claim to show Flash Video (Skyfire for example), but I don't have any experience with them.

Thanks Chris. But wouldn't it be up to Adobe to create a flash version for the Safari mobile browser?

Best, David.

Hi David,

No, it's up to Apple what applications are approved for it's OS.

Chris, here's a response from the Apple Ipod Touch forum:

"Somewhat of a half truth from the Adobe forums. Adobe failed to create a version of flash for iOS devices, and have now stopped development of flash for all mobile devices."

As a non-techie, this is seeming like a chicken-or-egg type of issue.

Regards, David
