Question

Why does flash not work on Safari and Iphone?

On my site SPKFans. Your Headquarters for Shopkins World. I worry about adding video content because I don't know if it will play on all devices. Youtube seems to work but I have tried a flash file and it can't be viewed on apple devices. Is there a workaround for this? Are there plans for flash to be able to work on apple devices.

Please help and clarify.

Yeah, the easiest path here would be to use a video hosting provider (YouTube, Vimeo, etc) and simply embed those hosted videos into the HTML on your site.  They have dedicated teams that worry about platform fragmentation and how to get your content to display well to all users.

If you're a larger organization, then the TV Everywhere platform from Adobe Primetime might be interesting:

Apple has never allowed Flash Player to be supported on iOS devices.  YouTube works because video is delivered via HTML5, not Flash.  This would be your alternative to delivering video on iOS devices.

See Adobe Flash Player | Tech specs  for a list of supported platforms.

Hi,

Mac OSX+Safari is a supported platform+browser for flash player. If you unable to use Flash Player on safari, ensure that Flash NPAPI plugin is installed on your Mac. You may get it from Adobe Flash Player Install for all versions. If still you cannot use it, try below steps:

  • Go to Safari->Preferences->Security->Check "Allow Plug-ins"->Plug-in Settings->Check Adobe Flash Player
  • Edit the settings for required website or for other websites by selecting "On" through the options.

Thanks!
