Why is the new Flash Player causing a .sol file to be missing??

Hello, im running windows vista service pack 2, with the new internet explorer... when I download the newest adobe flash player it appears to be working fine until I close out of the internet... If I go to control panel, then to internet- then delete all the cookies etc, I get an error saying something along the lines of   macromedia/flashplayer/appdata/      forget the rest, but anyway   a file comes up saying that a .sol file is missing and If i want to create it...  If I create it, it doesnt do anything. and If I cancel it , It closes the .sol file missing  popup, and it doesnt delete the cookies etc..... I tried uninstalling, reinstalling all to no effect... Is there a fix for what im going through, because I feel at  a loss on what to do or who to get help from, whether its actually an adobe problem, a vista problem, or a microsoft problem...Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated,   thanks    -Tyler

Hi Tyler - Its hard to tell what's going on exactly without the full errors that you are receiving.  You might want to take screenshots and post them so we can investigate further.

That said, when you delete browser data (cookies, etc.) that will also delete Flash .sol files.  It's possible that you have something else running that is depending on Flash and a particular .sol file.  However, I've never seen flash complain about missing .sol files before.

ok so I just downloaded flashplayer and closed out of internet, deleted the browser data,  this is the error:      The C:\Users\Tyler\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player...\settings.sol folder does not exist. the file may have been moved or deleted.            do you want to create it?   settings.sol    Type SOL file     size 506 bytes       date modified 5/7/2013   3:56 PM                                              This error happens anytime I download the new flash player, if i uninstall the flash player   and delete browser data   this missing file doesnt appear.. I have no idea on what to do

What application is telling you that the settings.sol file does not exist?

It doesn't sound like a Flash Player error, however having screenshots might help us figure out what's going on.  From your description it sounds like a problem with IE or the Internet Options control panel.

After installing Flash Player, try changing some of the settings in the Flash Player control panel.  Then, go to the folder where the settings.sol file is supposed to be located at, does it exist?

I'd recommend using this FAQ for doing a clean install.

How do I do a clean install of Flash Player?

thank you so much, I think I fixed the issue,   but there is one other issue im trying to figure out right now,   I have 2 folders of adobe reader  one folder is 110 megabytes  and the other one is 49.8 megabytes   should there be two folders having adobe reader in them? and if not is there a clean install for that as well? I uninstalled adobe reader, then reinstalled it,  but there is still another folder with adobe reader in file contents and when I try to delete it, it says I need permission and wont let me delete the folder.

Pat might jump in here and help with Acrobat, but I would recommend posting about this on the Reader forums.  Unfortunatly I don't know the details on this application/install.
