Hi all,
I am using text layout framework in my application. I am using textflow as editor to my application. As text layout framework supports multiple languages. I a m able to see the text in multiple languages.

Now my doubt is, can I type in different languages?
For example: As in word if we choose the font as Hindi then whatever we type it comes in Hindi.

I need just like that.

Is it possible with text layout framework?
If yes then how?

Thanks in advance.

I can reproduce the problem with Kruti Dev 010. When I type with a Devanagari keyboard layout I just get boxes. Oddly enough if I type with a Roman keyboard in that font I get Devanagari glyphs. I'll investigate further and possibly log a bug, but it may be an issue with the font that we can't address.

When I use the Mangal font with a Devanagari keyboard layout I do get Hindi text.

For the Malyallam issue I'll need the same information as I asked for above - OS, font, etc.

I've gotten some more information on our support of Indic scripts, and I'm sorry to say that we will not be supporting the Kruti font. There are some scripts where we only support OpenType fonts with GPOS and GSUB tables, and TrueType fonts that do not have those tables (like Kruti) will not be supported. The scripts with this requirement are:

Devanagari, Bengali, Gurmukhi, Gujarati, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam,

Thaana, Tibetan, Lao and Khmer.

It is possible. It works better in Flash Player 10.1 and AIR 2.0 than previous versions. If you've tried it out and it has not worked, please try upgrading your Player to a 10.1 beta and see if it works there.

Your operating system will have different input methods for each language. When (for instance) you turn on one of the Devanagari input methods on OSX, and you have a font with Hindi glyphs, when you type you will get Hindi.

Thanks Alan, I tried with Flash Player 10.1 and AIR 2.0 but then also I was not able to type in Hindi. I have Hindi fonts installed on my system. Have one more doubt: Do I need to any setting with textflow control? Can you suggest any way out?

I'll need more information:

What operating system are you using?

What fonts?

Can you type in Hindi in non-Flash applications? Which ones?

How are you using textflow as an editor for your application?

Are you using Flex or Flash Pro? Which versions?
