I'm using FM8. I've looked through the Forum and Knowledgebase for the past several hrs but have found nothing that helped solve my issue.

I have a book that contains 9 chapters and 2 appendices. In the book, chapter numbering is set to 1 for the first chap and Continue for the rest. Chapter numbering works fine. Also, page numbering is fine throughout the book.

For the appendices, the Chapter tab for the first appendix is set to Chapter #1 and Format ALPHABETIC (n). The second appendix is set to Continue Numbering.

In the appendix number paragraph style for both appendices, the Autonumber Format is set to Appendix .

When I update my book, both appendices are numbered as A, and they both appear in the TOC as A.

You need to twiddle the settings for the two Appendixes in the book file. In the book file, for the first Appendix, set the Chapter Number to start at A for the first file and to Continue Numbering for the second.

Save.

Then, in the appendix number paragraph style for both appendices, set Autonumber Format to Appendix <$Chapnum>. Save those files.

Then update.

Thanks, Art. The <$Chapnum> building block did the trick.
