FrameMaker

I have removed and change the conditions for all my files with conditional text, updated the files, saved and closed the files and books. When I reopen them and go to update the TOC they still are there. Any help would be appreciated. 

I have two text boxes on different, but consecutive pages. For each text box, I did the following:Open Object Properties dialog Select Text Frame Set Flow Tag: C Select Autoconnect Click ApplyI then Ctrl + Clicked to select each text box.I then selected Format > Customize Layout > Connect Text frames.I’m still getting the following error: This Connection is not possible. You may be trying to connect two text frames that would result in a circular text flow, or you may be trying to connect to a PostScript Code text flow.What am I missing?

I need help with the ordering of paragraph styles in my document’s mini table of contents.I am creating a miniTOC with 2 paragraph styles. On my body pages, I have 2 text flows:A - which houses the first of my 2 relevant paragraph styles, which serves as a subsection for this .fm file. B - which houses the second relevant paragraph style, which serves as the title for the entries in this document, and the relevant information that follows each entry.My miniTOC is putting the paragraph styles from flow B above flow A, which is the opposite of how I want it. The text boxes for Flow A are placed before the text boxes for Flow B, so I assumed that info from Flow A would be prioritzed.How can I reverse this? Thanks!

This is just a bit of creative fun using scripting, an LLM and FrameMaker.I rarely use FrameMakers built-in graphics tools. For workflow reasons it is way easier to have graphics as separate files outside of FrameMaker. My team is working Structured FrameMaker 11. We recently received patching and now when we Attempt to open Framemaker we receive a message that it is a trial version. Is this a patching issue? How do we fix it?

Hi all,I have been using FM for five years to develop textbooks. Every six months or so, I look into this issue and come up empty, even though I have submitted bug reports and talked to user support.Long story short, I cannot get FM to reliably create accessibility-compliant PDFs. The approaches described under “Tagged PDF output” and the accessibility items in the FM documentation do not consistently produce PDFs that meet post-2020 standards in many countries. As a result, the files are rejected by a growing number of publishers and distributors because they cannot pass basic automated tests.This experience seems to match several other posts over the past few years, and I have not seen any recent posts or breakthroughs. I am using the most recent (Sept 2026) version, unstructured.I am always happy to experiment with specifics, but my question is: can anyone point to a guide or best practices document? I have a couple of such fonts that are installed but are replaced with font “x Heavy” where x is the font’s name.Where does the Heavy come from ? Is it some kind of setting for the font in the document?If I remove the “missing” font, it uses a different font, which means that before removal it was using the correct font that it couldnt find. 

I have several huge documents who have been upgraded from FM 2019 to FM 2022, and then edited.Can I somehow go back to FM 2019 without loosing any information?

When I package my book, there is message that dependent files are missing. These files are not in the book. There are no cross-references to any files that are not in the book.Where else should I look?

The problem I am having using the PDFA3b to generate the files with the attached PDF files.  I am finding now is of the 345 embedded PDF attachments, 32 are showing the attached file somewhere other than the marker, and 42 just weren’t attached at all.   The publishing process took approximately 4 hours.  When I try publishing smaller 3 page .fm files instead of the book.  Sometimes I get between 2-5 of 6 attached files on a PDF page.  Not sure if it is size of the attachments or length of tile going into the message embedPDF> command (but the files which attach vary).  

I haven’t seen an update on this topic in several years so was wondering if anyone has this working yet on the latest version of Parallels and Windows 11. 

I try to recompile my EXE program with FDK 2026 and I get this error :“The procedure entry point COMP_get_type could not be located in the dynamic library C:\...\libssl-3-64.dll”It seems the libssl library is not aligned with API.lib or FDK.lib

FrameMaker 2022 I spell check all files when I am converting them from FM7.2 to FM2022. The file that had the words below gave me nothing when I spell checked. But still there are words that are miss-spelled. So, I have to manually go through all the pages to look for the red squiggly lines. Is there a setting I have missed? Or a work-around?  

I am creating a manual which has manuals and or drawing sets which are to be PDFs (over 300 of them) which can be selected and opened as a separate PDF document.  The selection is likely most important in the output PDF, but should be displayable while in FrameMaker. Ideally the same location would be have a link in both PDF and FrameMaker.   What I have been able to do so far is to create a common text frame shown below.  The upper left frame is the result of Insert>Attach file in PDF.  the Lower with icon is an File>Import>Object. FrameMaker file snip:I am publishing with PDF A3b archive format which appears to be the only way to get the PDF embedded.  I have tried other formats without luck. Publishing the above file which I will also attach results in the following snip.  Loss of both graphics related to the Attach or OLE object.  Note the text from the OLE object is published in PDF, but nothing is selectable.  And the attached file without graphic has an active hyperlink

This is so strange! Yesterday I fixed the font problems (changing 2 fonts that I actually don’t use, but they are still there) in a book. I printed the book with the Adobe PDF-writer. Today I realized that I hade missed a thing I changed yesterday in one of the files, so I fixed it and tried to print a new PDF. But no - the fonts I fixed in all the files yesterday were now back. How can this even be possible? Now I have to change them again! FrameMaker 2022 (files were previously saved in FrameMaker 7.2) No where in the files are Helvetica or Times used, but I still get this. The pic below is from a file I changed (and managed to print) yesterday.  

I currently have FrameMaker 16.0.0.754 on my work computer, and the pdf setup dialogue is entirely missing the tags option. I am trying to work to create an accessible document, which is already a difficult issue, but it appears that most of the tinkering that might help me would involve mapping styles to various tags through this setup menu. I am working with a structured FM document, and two years ago when working on the previous edition of this report I was able to access this tag menu on an older version of FM (of which I don’t recall the specific version). What are my options for resolving this issue? 

I am creating a report through FM 16.0.0.754 based on XML input after an XSLT transformation to organize the data. I currently am importing images for several tables in this report because I cannot reliably create them through XML and in FM. The issue is that the final column of the table contains a bar representing the percentage the current row represents of the total. I have not yet figured out a suitable way to generate this through the XML input so that I don’t have to make manual changes to create the 40 or so tables. The image approach is not ideal, as it requires additional work on the accessibility front, and it is a hassle to make sure the images are translating appropriately and not blurry.
