FrameMaker

I have FM 2022. Look at the first picture. It’s an anchored frame with a drawing in it. In the first box below you can see the dimensions for the anchored frame. The frame is 10 mm higher than the drawing, so 5 mm space over and under it. We can see that the anchored frame is 151,013 mm high. BUT look at the box below. The width and heigh of the drawing is not at all true! How do I get the correct measurments? I imported the exact same drawing in FM 7 and got the width to 154,109 and height to 141,013.At first I thought that the lower box was for something else, but if I click on the drawing and then on the icon for Object properties, this box opens. 

Are there any known bugs? We are on the latest version of Framemaker. 2022. Actually see the problem with  17.0.8.853 and 17.0.9.866Simplest way to reproduce the crash is to File → import → File (import by reference).The select what has been imported in the Structure View and press Copy.Framemaker crashes.We make heavy use of text insets in our application using the FDK (have updated FDK to latest versions).  So this is a major problem for us.Any information would be appreciated.A technical note is we think the use of the clipboard in the creation of the text insets is part of the problem.

Hello,ActualIy, I  have a master page title where I enter the date like this (for 30 august) : I enter manually  “30 août” in a variable.Now, I would like FM could enter automatically the date of the next sunday, like this : “30 août”.By example, if I write the document the friday 28 august, I would like FM write automatically in title master page : “30 août” (for 30 august).How to do it ? 

My old computer with FM 7 doesn't work with PhotoShop or Illustrator anymore, due to only 10 GB free disk space. So I have a new computer. With that came FM 2022. A couple of years ago, when we switched from Windows 10 to 11, I tested on a new computer first. I installed FM 7 and couldn't get the fonts to work. So I installed Windows 11 on top of 10.Anyway. Now I have a new computer and FM 2022, and lots of problems with the fonts. We use different versions of Futura in our documentation (I work with desk-top publishing for a large company that sells air conditioners and heat pumps, I make all our documentation).I have now isolated the problem. Everything works perfectly IF, before I open FM 2022 each morning, I re-install 12 fonts. Don't ask me why, but if I don't do that, all fonts except Futura Light, are replaced with Times. Or all fonts are suddenly some kind of Symbols... So my question is WHY. The fonts I have to re-install all ends with .PFM. Is there a way around this, except

Hello,In this example I would like to delete all the blank lines between the lines of text, or after the last line of text. How to do it ?  

FrameMaker 2022I’m applying two conditional text tags to step 1 in a list of 5 steps. If I include the paragraph tag at the end of the step, then steps 2-5 turn into steps 10-13 (because the previous page ended with step 9 for a different set of steps/procedure). If I do not include the paragraph tag, then the text disappears but the #1 remains. What am I doing wrong?

If you use Track Changes for additions and deletions, then switch previews (final and original), when you switch back to off (to show additions and deletions), the additions do not reappear. I did this on three documents. Can someone test it to see if they have the same issue. (Doesn’t happen in older versions that I’m aware of, so it must the be new version.)

My client has a custom DTD and structured application. They want their EPS images to import at 100% and not scale to the text column width. It worked with FrameMaker 11, but not 2022 (17.0.6). They are using the “standard” DTD settings as described in the Structured FrameMaker Developers Guide.Is there a setting or value that can be used to import an EPS at 100% regardless of the text column width? Anyone who knows how to convert frame maker to indesign/Pelle

Here are a couple of things I have been wondering about the last couple of days, after switching from 7 to 2022: When I open the program, there are no icons at the top. Just text. So instead of clicking on an “Open file-icon” I have to click File and then Open. Is this the only way to open a file? When I open a bookfile it docks on the left side of the program. No close-icon, just the lines where I can choose close tab. Another example of me having to click on 2 things instead of one. I realize I can “free” it from the docked position, but then the tab is as high as the program is, and I have to manually make it smaller so it’s not in the way for other things I am doing. Isn’t there a way to open it the same way as a file is opened (as it was in version 7)? Also in a book file. Where’s the Print icon? Do I really have to go through the File-menu? The icons and text boxes are so small (I have a very large screen). Is there a way to make the icons and text boxes larger? As it is now I ha

My company is using established templates for service manuals created by someone well before my time and I am trying to resolve an undesirable pagination issue that occurs regardless (seemingly) of the constraints/rules set in the paragraph designer. I have no formal FrameMaker, training so I hope I’m able to provide enough detail for you all.We use a 2-column layout for the text but also allow for full page width image frames and tables. This problem only occurs with text following a page width image or table near the bottom of the page. In this case, I have an image frame with fig number and descriptionfollowed by a level 3 heading that is set to Keep With: Next Paragraph. Then the text following the heading has Widow/Orphan Lines set to 2. Pagination IssueGiven the rules applied to the heading and text, they should both push to the next page in my mind. Is there some setting I am missing that is preventing that from happening? Thank you.

Hi,FrameMaker 18.0.0 on Windows 11I create my PDFs with Distiller. When I click Save as PDF, FrameMaker does something and then shows this message:Are you sure that this file is from a trustworthy source and you want to convert it?Usually I click Yes, as I want to get my PDF, and then FrameMaker/Distiller creates the PDF. However, just now I clicked No (out of curiosity), and then FrameMaker halted, and I could not get it to continue. I had to shut it down.Does anyone know, why this happens? Is this a FrameMaker fault or a Distiller fault?Best regards, Winfried 

Hi,I have a book with 3 periods in its file name:123.456.789.012.book (there are other numbers and also some regular letter characters, but this does not matter)When I save as PDF (with or without Distiller, network or local drive), the PDF file name is shortened to:123.456.789.pdfI have FM 18.0.0 on Windows 11.Can anyone check, if this happens also on Windows 10? One writer used track text edits while peer reviewing another writer’s manual. Now the original author cannot accept or reject the tracked text edits that were entered by the reviewer. (Only the peer reviewer can accept/reject.) How do we fix this?

Hi,I got a new laptop with Windows 11, and now I have to install everything anew. The ESTK seems to be a problem.​@Klaus Göbel had said that we can download the ExtendScript Toolkit here:https://github.com/Adobe-CEP/CEP-Resources/tree/master/ExtendScript-Toolkit When I run AdobeExtendScriptToolkit_4_LS22.exe, it unpacks itself into a folder with a setup file. OK.When I run this, I get an error message (in German):The following problems aroseThe installer had noticed that possibly a computer restart is needed.Exit the installer, restart the computer and retry the installation.After I clicked Ignore, the installer did something, but it did not install the ExtendScript Toolkit.It should be here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CC\Does anyone know, how I could install the ESTK on Windows 11?Thank you very much for your help!

Hi,I have a new laptop with Windows 11 and want to install also FrameScript.The first part works: Downloaded FrameScript from here: https://framescr.com/wb/downloads.htmlThen installed it as Administrator.And then I got a list with all FrameMaker installations (in my case only FM 18).(This is just RegEsl7A.exe. I ran it also separately as Administrator.)However, I cannot select FrameMaker 18.The other buttons (Select All, Register Selected Installations) cannot be clicked.What could I do?On my old laptop with FrameMaker 18 on Windows 10 this had worked.Best regards, Winfried 

Hello, I wonder if you can help?  I am using Adobe FrameMaker 2022 to create my Technical reports which uses a lot of greek symbols and then creating a pdf using Adobe Acrobat (64 bit).  I use to add WPMathA in previous reports, but I see that this font is no longer to be used and I have been replaced WPMath A with Symbol font.  The issue I am currently having in the Technical reports is, once I generated the FM file into a pdf and view in the Safari browser, the majority of the greek characters that I use from the Equation palette in FrameMaker is not displaying correctly.In Chrome and Edge, the greek characters display fine.Is there a way to get the greek characters to display correctly using the Mac browser Safari please. Thank you.

A user is running into an issue with Framemaker 11. Dialog boxes used during the print-to-pdf process (usually alerts about missing fonts, difficulty opening documents, etc.) will be placed in random z-indexed locations on the desktop meaning they will appear behind a variety of other open windowsPopups can even be hidden behind floating chapter windows within framemaker, which renders the book publishing process difficult because each print-to-pdf popup requires you to hunt for and accept the terms of the popup in order to continue with the export process. To make matters worse, using the windows tactic to hover over framemaker in the task bar does not seem to show popups as dependents of the program. I usually only see a list of free floating windows for each book chapterAre there any resources or plugins I can explore for fixing this? When I restart Windows or, sometimes, just FrameMaker, my scripts have disappeared from the catalog. It seems that only scripts that reside in startup folder never disappears, but “Favorite Scripts” do. I can see that this question was raised some 12 years ago. Is this really the same - 12 year old - error?

Hello FrameMaker friends:I have zero practical experience with version 18.0.0.206 but one of my students is using it.   After adding files to the book window, FrameMaker pulls in most of the correct content to the generated files but not all. It appears to be random. When we try to troubleshoot a file that we just added by hyperlinking on the partially-generated content, Fm states it can’t find the file and make sure the file exists. We pulled the chapters out and re-added them and am still getting the same message when hyperlinking in. Thoughts?     [FWIW: This is not a <$paranum> building block issue.]    I’m just back from vacation so maybe it’s me, but I am totally baffled. Is there something off with v18? Or with me?

Can a Refence Page be imported or does a cut and paste to a new baseline Reference Page required? Thank you so much for your assistance. Tony
