When I package my book, there is message that dependent files are missing

Did you do an update on the book before trying to package it?

So this is strange. I package one file in the book, and I get the message about missing files.

This file has three cross references to other files in the book. The missing files are NOT the files that the cross references refer to. The missing files are files that might have existed in the past, but they are gone now.

I delete those cross references and package the file again. 

This time, there is no message about missing files.

I would suggest you purchase Frameexperts “ArchiveES” which is way better than the facility which ships with FrameMaker. Why?… because it also traverses folders outside of the FrameMaker job folder. Making sure everything that has a link is collected and put into a graphics folder.

Any chance of missing assets existing on master pages or reference pages?

I have an earlier version of the book where this problem does not exist. So I compared both versions and I didn’t see anything unexpected. So I think however this happened, I can ignore it.

Ok, and if you take that ZIP file and unpack it in another location, are all the files present?
Also, is this Structured or Unstructured FM?

Maybe we need to go back to what you mean by “package my book” - Winfried & I think of the built-in FM utility that scoops up all your files and sticks them all in a big ZIP file when we hear “package”.

The console tells me that there are missing files, but it does not say how they are missing.

There are no missing files in the book. I looked at all the cross-references, there are no cross references to files that are not in the book. There is no inset text. There are no missing images.

When you create a package, FrameMaker also collects file insets and all images.

Could it be that those files are meant?
