FrameMaker

I am using FM version 17.0.5.725 and Windows 11. I cannot easily update to a new version of FM, as each version has to be vetted by cybersecurity before we can install it.I have a complex series of text insets with tagged content for different platforms and customers. Up to now, I have avoided using any overlapping tags. However, as we incorporate more platforms into the documents, I’m at a point where overlapping the tags seem inevitable.The following situation is repeated multiple times throughout my documents:I have multiple versions of a graphic, with tags that look like this:Graphic 1 tags = platformA + customerAGraphic 2 tags = platformA + customerBGraphic 3 tags = platformBGraphic 4 tags = platformC So when I export a manual for Platform A + customer B, I build an expression that looks like this to show only Graphic 2: “platformA” or “customerB” and not “customerA”Two weeks ago this was working as intended, and only Graphic 2 appeared. When I create an XLIFF export, the exported ZIP file is empty. This happens only with one of our Books. We have successfully exported four Books, but the last export is empty. We always use this settings.

I am having an issue with Adobe FrameMaker's Responsive HTML5 output. The search function is rendering punctuation marks and special characters (e.g., ",',>, etc.) with HTML code instead of the unencoded character. The image is a screen capture of the help system. Note that HTML code is used in the results column on the left side of the image. Frame version is 17.09.866. 

Hello,I am converting my unstructured FrameMaker manuals to DITA using FrameMaker and learning DITA along the way. The end result should be PDF documents.FM version 17.0.3.546.When I use the Publish function in FM to create a PDF, headings at level 3 become level 2 (1.1) instead of 1.1.1. Levels 1 and 2 get the correct numbering. The headings at level 3 are titles in topics linked to level 2 Chapter elements using topicrefs.I understand that FM converts DITA files to a temporary .book-file during PDF-conversion. If I save the DITA bookmap as a book with FM components, I can see that level 3 headings are converted to paragraph format title.1 in FM’s Paragraph Catalog. I guess this is the origin of the problem, but is there any way to prevent this?I have created my own PDF templates based on FM’s templates in Publish settings, Outputs, DITA template. I ticked the box “Save PDF via Book with components route” under DITA options.Thank you in advance!

I’m trying to vertically align the text in my table cells so that it is centered but can’t seem to figure out why it is slightly off set. I believe I have my paragraph designer set correctly and my cell padding is the same all around in the table designer but you can see that table contents are still ever so slightly higher than center. This is a problem for cells with more contents as they run into the cell borders. I can manually adjust the cell padding so that there is more on top than the bottom but that’s more of a work around than a proper solution. 

Hello,I have selected a part of a document and would like to use a regular expression on all my selection, but in “selection”mode, the “find all” button is greyed so I am unable to “find all” in my selection.  

Framemaker worked great 2 weeks ago but now wont launch and its not showinging in task manager. Removed and reinstalled it but still can’t get it to run. Tried with av off but still not working. Any suggestions

Is there a way of adding title text to subsequent pages of the table of contents?I’m writing a manual and the table of contents is 16 pages long. I have the title on the first page and need the following pages to say “Table of Contents Continued” on them.I tried manually typing it in on the second page, using the paragraph design I created for the TOC title, but FrameMaker moves to the top of the first page when I update the book.

Hello,For a specific FM document, I have set some Find/change settings (with regular expression), and would like to keep these Find/change settings all the time when I re-open this specific FM document (not for new documents). How to do it ?

Hello,With the help of ​@Winfried Reng , for a text selection I could use the Find/change function with “regular expression” in order to add brackets around the text selection. But now, inside this “regular expression” I would like to delete also the comma before this text selection.So, I would like to select from the comma to the text selection (by example here :  , soprano) and in a single regular expression, do  two things : delete the comma and add brackets around the text selection.How to do it ?

Hi! I got a message from our translations vendor that my FrameMaker files have several missing fonts. Based on my research, I should be able to deselect the Remember Missing Font Names check box under Preferences, and this warning will go away in future FrameMaker sessions:However, after I close FrameMaker and re-open the book, I’m still seeing messages about missing fonts under the Console panel:I went to the Fonts panel, selected one of the missing fonts, but the Replace Font panel does not show me where the font is missing is and I’ve never heard of the font that it wants to use as a replacement:Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I’ve had an ongoing problem with FrameMaker 2022: When I save to pdf, it looks fine except for any Gujarati text (or any extended character set text), which comes out with the character spacing all wrong. I’ve asked tech support to help me solve it a dozen times, with no success. I finally figured it out. I installed the HP Universal Postscript driver. Used that to print to a .prn file, then opened the .prn in Distiller to generate the pdf. It works perfectly, and it’s ten times faster than “save as pdf” or “print to pdf.”

HTML5 output is generated with Frame 2022 version 17 using the Azure Blue template. Is there a way to tweak the template to force the display of a hidden left panel (containing search results) when a search is executed from the Search field in the header of the html page? As it is, executing a search when the left panel is hidden leads you to believe the search is not working at all, since no results are presented.
