Question

Font Helvetica-Black is installed but FM 2022 says its not available and wants to use Helvetica-Black Heavy. Why?

I have a couple of such fonts that are installed but are replaced with font “x Heavy” where x is the font’s name.

Where does the Heavy come from ? Is it some kind of setting for the font in the document?

If I remove the “missing” font, it uses a different font, which means that before removal it was using the correct font that it couldnt find.

    Might not be the problem but worth checking off…
    If this is an OTF font, is what’s installed the Static or Variable instance(s)?
    FM does not support OTF Variable fonts, and when used, the results are unpredictable.

    What format are the fonts? Type 1, OpenType, etc.?

    For Helvetica-Black I tried with both otf and ttf

    It’s probably tied up with the “Remember Missing Fonts” flag in the Preferences (iirc). You say the Helvetica-Black font is installed - how is it installed & is it present on all machines that would be editing the docs that use it?

    The document wasnt created by me. I tried both installing the font for the system and putting it in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2022\fminit\fonts , the option to load fonts on startup is checked.
