Can't connect text flows across pages

I have two text boxes on different, but consecutive pages. For each text box, I did the following:

Open Object Properties dialog
Select Text Frame
Set Flow Tag: C
Select Autoconnect
Click Apply

I then Ctrl + Clicked to select each text box.

I then selected Format > Customize Layout > Connect Text frames.

I’m still getting the following error: This Connection is not possible. You may be trying to connect two text frames that would result in a circular text flow, or you may be trying to connect to a PostScript Code text flow.

What am I missing?

Other things to check:

disconnected pages
frames not the same Flow
one or both frames already connected to something else

Try clicking off to make sure nothing is selected. Then select the first text frame, shift-click to select the second and try Format > Customize Layout > Connect Text frames again.

Have you tried skipping the first 5 steps you describe and just select the text boxes and attempt the Connect command? I never seem to have any need for more than one flow in my work, so I’m not sure how it all works.

Hi,

You cannot select text frames on different pages. Possibly this is the cause of your error message.
