We run an old application in a structured FM. Now that we must switch to win 11 and frameMaker 2022, do we have to update the EDD and DTD files as well? or will it still be working with the old settings?
Maybe a strange question, but I normally don't work in FrameMaker and I'm trying to get the app running in the new environnement. Thkx Gert

Hi Gert,
I do not use a structured application. Therefore I hope that someone else can confirm (or correct) my post.
You have your own structured application. It could be that an EDD from FM 2022 might allow more options, but FM 2022 will not complain, when you do not use all available options.
You definitely have to adapt paths to your templates and config files.
Therefore I think that you can safely use your existing structured application in FM 2022.

Well, the xml is loading (after having FM read the structure, it knows what kind of doc it will be), but after 45 mins of waiting, frameMaker is "not responding" and stalled.

Do you have any scripts which do something with the XML?
Any XSLT?
Do you have all paths and filenames adapted?

If you have custom templates, open and save them as 2022 files.

Hi Gert, I would expect that you should not have any problems. Mostly. There have been some changes to XML handling over the years that may affect how the import process formats the content, though, especially in regard to whitespace handling. Either way, certainly you should not have to wait 45 minutes before something loads. Given that something is not right, I think that I would start in reverse... author a structured document in FrameMaker and save it as XML. Then compare it with the XML you are trying to import to see if FM might be expecting any differences. Hope this helps -Russ
