Cannot create a new xml file

Hi,

I've downloaded the trial version of Framemaker 12 to try it out with DITA documents, but I can't seem to find how to create a new XML file!

Apparently you go to File / New / XML, but I don't have that option, only Document or Book

Is this because it is limited in the trial version, or do I need to set up the environment differently to access XML files? or do I need to create a Schema first then create a document from that schema?

Many thanks

John

Have a look-see over in the Structured FM forum – it vaguely sounds like you may have picked the wrong interface when starting FM up. BTW – the trial is the full feature set – no limitations except for a 30 day expiry

I had thought it might be something like that, I remember during install saying OK to a look for the program, and it saying you could change it later, but i couldn't find it!

It's under edit / preferences , then chose structured Framemaker

Thanks for the help Jeff, 🙂

John
