Character Palette issue

Explorer ,
Jul 18, 2018 Jul 18, 2018

Hi,

When I try to insert a character from the Character Palette in FrameMaker 2017 all I get is a question mark. I have tried changing the font in the palette box, but I still get a question mark.

What do I need to do to fix this problem?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers,

Elizabeth

What Unicode code point for the character in question? If CP doesn't report that, look up the same character in Windows Character Map, and check the bottom status pane.

What's the default font of the paragraph into which you are pasting? It's some old 8-bit (pre-Unicode) font, or simply doesn't populate a glyph for the code point, that would be one explanation.

I haven't used FM's CP enough to know if it just copies the character's code point, or also tags it with a font style. Windows CM does tag

I checked the Character Map in Windows and found what I was looking for. Then I did a copy paste into the document. All is good now.

Thank you for your help!

Cheers,

Elizabeth
