Hi,

How can I insert a cover page in my document? If I apply a master page then it included with header and footer. But I want to make the first page as cover page, how its works in Ms Word.(different first page) and when i create the TOC why it appear in a new document? Do i need to specify the location in my document?

Thanks.

Saaya,

To add a cover page to your document, you need to create a master page for the cover page. Then you apply the cover master page to the first page in your document. I suggest reading the FrameMaker user manual for the details.

For single-file documents, FrameMaker creates the TOC as a second file. You then have to copy and paste it into the main document, or import it into the main document. Again, the details are in the User Manual. This stems from the reason that Framemaker is used primarily to create multi-file documents, in which case the TOC is one of the documents and there is no need to import it.

I would suggest doing the document as a .book, with components:

COVER.fm

TOC.fm

BODY.fm

If I apply a master page  then it included with header and footer.

You can set the Master Page formats as desired in COVER.fm

... and  when i create the TOC why it appear in a new document?

Frame's initial generated TOC for a new document is always a separate file. Once created, you can edit it's Master and Reference pages to get the formatting you need, then do either of:

  • incorporate the file as a .book component (which gets auto-updated uopn Update Book), or
  • just copy and paste the TOC into the BODY file where you need it (but this is not auto-updated).

_______

Book is the way to go.
