Hi,
I want to work (as a remote self-employed contractor) with a company that has FM2019.
I tested FM2022 and it can't save books in an FM2019 compatible format.
(Sure, I could save each individual file as a mif, but with books that have 30 files in them, this is time consuming, and I'm not even sure if they can open the book, as that just gets saved with no options.)
I couldn't test FM2020, it wasn't an option. But I could buy it. obviously I don't want to buy it if it's not FM2019 compatible.
Does anyone know for sure that FM2020 can save books as FM2019 compatible?
Thanks for your help!
Julie

Hi,
Yes. With FrameMaker 2020 you can save back to FM 2019.
However, this would also mean to save each file individually.
Better to buy FM 2019 or use a scripting solution like ConvertDocs from Rick Quatro to save all files of a book:
http://www.frameexpert.com/store/index.html
Or from 4XScripts:
https://4xscripts.com/en/scripts/analyseandconvertfiles
https://4xscripts.com/en/scripts/savedocasoldfmversion (this one is free)

Thanks very much!
Adobe don't support FM2019 any more so won't sell it me.
I just bought FM2020, so I'll have a look at your other ideas to speed things up.

Fixed up your post to correctly identify the versions - there's already enough confusion with the year version and the internal number version 🤣

Contact Adobe support. Since you (presumedly) have an active subscription, they might extend it prior versions.

Thanks but I tried that. As they don't support FM2019 any more they won't let me buy it or give me access to it.
Thanks anyway!
