Frame is missing a qrconf.xml file, when generating a QR code.

We have several installations of FrameMaker 12.0.4.445 on Windows 7 64-bit. Two of our computers have a problem when trying to generate a QR code from the "Special" -> "Generate QR Code" menu item.

Instead of bringing up the dialog box, it immediately gets an error "Empty config file: C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\12\qrconf.xml".

This file does exist in that location. We checked the contents of the file against a machine that is working, and the file is identical between the working installation and the broken installation.

Any difference in user rights to that folder in machines that are working vs. those that aren’t? Just blue-skying ;>)

The file permissions were the same, but the owner was different...

The broken one was owned by the Active Directory user. The one that was working was owned by the local machine's "administrator" account.

So, on the broken machine, we changed ownership on the qrconf.xml to the local administrator account. But, it still didn't fix it, even after a restart of Frame...

I suspect that file permissions aren't the problem, because it says that the config file is "empty", not missing, or is unable to open the config file.

I wouldn’t expect a restart of FM to have any impact – restarting Windows would.

Even after a reboot, the issue persists.

There’s got to be something different between the machines at play here – have you contacted Adobe Tech support?

No, we haven't. I figured that we would start here first...
