I used Superscript (Registered symbol) in the headings, but when I generate FM TOC, it is not picking superscript. Please suggest solution.

Are you using a Character Format to superscript the character in the headings? If not, try that. Character formats should carry over into your generated files.

If you have a Character Format applied to a text string picked up for generated content, such as ToC:

  • The fix:
The generated file, e.g. BookToc.fm, must have that Character Format in its catalog, but…
  • Fixing that breaks hypertext:
FM doesn't have separate start:end markers for hypertext regions, and parses them on various boundaries, including Character Formats. This is a long-standing limitation in FM that is unlikely to get revised.

The work-arounds are:

  • Accept the broken link (works for print).
  • Accept the lack of superscript.
  • Use a font in which the problem character is natively superscripted.
