I cannot get FrameMaker 9 to "Learn" or "Allow in Document" the name of a product my company makes; iCOMM. Spelled that way, lowercase "i" followed by upper case "COMM."
When I spell check the book, document or current page it always goes to this term. No matter how many times I click on Learn or Allow in Document it keeps on finding fault with the term.
What is especially crazy is the exact same term shows up in the list of possible corrections, so I try clicking on the "Correct" button with the term from the list of possible corrections and that doesn't work either.
Help!

Hi, I checked another chapter and that was the problem. Character tags were in Danish.
Thank you.

Beth,
"doesn't work" covers a lot of territory. Can you please provide some more specific details as to what is or isn't happening in your case?

Well spell check thinks "the" is misspelled and suggests "te". Inspect suggested spelling is incest.
That's what I mean by doesn't work.
I plan on re-installing frame 9 and adding the 255 patch to see if that helps. Paragraph designer has the language set as US English, so that isn't it.
It's not our template as the person who designed our template, Max Hoffmann, says it works fine on his system. It's very frustrating to not be able to find common word typos.
Sincerely,
Beth

That does look like something is messed up. I've tried to trip FM up with those words, but just like for Max, it works fine on my system. Before you do a re-install, I'd suggest trying to patch FM first.
Also, has any of the content that trips up the spell checker been imported from Word or other applications? Have any character tags been applied to those words? Do the messed-up words work correctly in a new document (i.e. if you just type them in vs. copy & paste)?

This is what Spell Checker shows for the word clean:
Since our template handles 28 languages I can understand the other
listing. Why can't it English right?

The image (?) didn't come through. Did you use the camera tool in the web interface to upload the screen capture?

It's working now, I checked each chapter for the language under
Character Designer. Some of them were set to Danish. All is right in
the world. At least for a Friday.
Thank you for your suggestions.
