From my limited experience … keeping your hair and your sanity :-} and the better you know FM, the better off you are sticking with it. There are so many things that IDD does just that bit differently, and even quite a few (last time I tried) it doesn't do at all. The only feature I can remember vaguely wishing FM had was the ability to run text round an irregularly-shaped graphic, but for the sort of documentation I handle that's rarely if ever a requirement.

We're moving more and more to structured documentation, too; I've never tried to find out whether IDD can support that. Importing XML (and even IDD's own tagged text) has caused me much grief in the past.
