I have examined all of the FrameMaker book template Master pages in detail. The Frontmatter.Tpl has 3 master pages. When the book is generated from XML, the "cover" page in the frontmatter contains 9 master pages. and the header font size is 11pt. NOWHERE in any of the book templates is there a template with 9 pages or a header with 11pt font. Where can the cover.fm document be getting that information?

Hi,
Do you use DITA?
Which template files did you check?
When I search the FrameMaker installation folder for tpl, there are also template files in the fminit folder:
c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2022\fminit\Publisher\Template\Document\outputs\DitaTemplate\
Somewhere in your structured application the path to the template files might be listed.
In the maker.ini there is also a section about template files.
Best regards, Winfried

Yes, I'm using DITA.
All of the templates in the C:\Users\Bruce Sanchez\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\17\FAA\MTHB_6980_29C_CHG1 .book folder used to convert the DITA do not have the Master page used.
I'll look for another template somewhere. Thanks

Hi Bruce,
Did you check the path in your maker.ini?
There are two:
c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2022\maker.ini
c:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\17\maker.ini
In these maker.ini files there is also a section [Directories] with the path to your templates.
If you want to change something, then only in your personal maker.ini in AppData.
Klaus Daube had described the meaning of these maker.ini entries:

Thread closure.
Winfried,
While investigating the tamplate differences I inadvertantly discovered the possible underlying (and very strange) cause. I was creating a new template from scratch and copied (contol-a, control-c) the header contents. When I pasted the contents (control-v) into the new template header, the text was TOTALLY different from what I had copied! What?! I continued to creat the new template without copying from the old template. The generated Frontmatter now has the correct Master page information but I have not discovered why the documents created with the Frontmetter template still have 9 master pages when the template has only 3. At this point I don't care and consider this just another FrameMaker annomoly. Thanks for your input!!
