I have a ditamap with about 40 topics, and each has or should have a ShortDesc element. I want to review and (where needed) edit all of these ShortDesc elements to make them more consistent. How do I do this?

Are you using an XML editor in addition to FrameMaker? It may be easier to do it there.

Hi,

In Framemaker there's a toggle to switch to XML view. Is that useful? Thanks...

In Oxygen XML Editor, you can use XPath to find all of the shortdesc elements in the ditamap and its topics. This would allow you to review them in the same results window. You can double-click each result and it will open the topic in the editor, where you can make your changes. Having a fully-featured XML editor is very helpful in structured environments. Oxygen XML Editor is a paid product. I am not affiliated with them, just a satisfied user.

Thank you! I used Notepad (and ChatGPT for instructions on how to display particular elements) and this was a good solution. Thanks again.
