How To Remove Map Title

I have a small problem with FM 10 DITA 1.2 that I am unable to resolve.

I create a new DITAMAP and save it. Then I use the Insert Child button to map xml files in the DITAMAP. I save the map. Then I go to File > Save as PDF.

In the output, before Heading 1, I get in very big font "Map Title". I do not want this. What should I do?

Known issue: I can click document view button and change the text from "Map Title" to anything I want, but I just do not want it to appear at all in my document. I know this is possible because I have generated PDF without getting this Map Title but I do not know what the setting was in FM. To prevent the "Map Title" text from appearing in the PDF, I can click on Document View button and simply delete the text... but that would mean the DITAMAP would not have a name.

There should be some option in FM 10 where you can switch off printing the "Map Title" in PDF. The question is How?

Please help.

Regards, Amit.

Hi Amit...

There have been a number of posts recently on using the Save Map to PDF functionality. In general it seems to be a bit problematic since there doesn't appear to be an easy way to customize this process. (It would be great if someone from Adobe could jump in and provide info on how to do this or validate that there isn't much in the way of options.) Basically, it's a black box. If you like what you get form the process, that's great, but if you don't, then you should probably not bother using it.

Instead, save the map to a FM book and component files, then customize the resulting files as needed before saveing that to a PDF. One (slightly outdated) method is described here ..
