HTML5: How to convert video?

Hi,

I have a small document with a video (created a few years ago; this was more a test than a real documentation). The video is a referenced avi file.

When I convert this document to PDF, then I can play the video (after some security questions).

However, when I convert this document to HTML5, I get just a large empty space.

Do I have to use another file format?

How can I convert a video to HTML5?

Yesterday I was told that I cannot use avi files for HTML5.

I will check, whether mp4 works.
