I have tried to add some hypertext popup menus to a document, and find they work when using FrameMaker in view mode. However, the popups do not appear in the resulting PDF after conversion. Can anyone suggest a reason for this?

I am using FrameMaker version 7.1 with Acrobat 7.0 standard. I

FrameMaker hypertext markers were designed to work in FrameMaker view-only documents (displayed in FrameMaker, or in the FrameViewer/FrameReader products). When Acrobat/Reader was introduced, support was added for FM->PDF conversion, and some of the hypertext markers were translated to corresponding items in PDF.

A summary of FM hypertext markers and their PDF conversion status is available at http://www.microtype.com/resources/FMhypertext.pdf

[ Using my FrameMaker-to-Acrobat TimeSavers add-on and its Navigation Assistant extension, it is possible to add custom hypertext markers that result in popup menus upon conversion to PDF -- see http://www.microtype.com/ImprovePDF07.html for more info + example ]

Thanks Shlomo

From the information you provided, it seems that this feature isn't built into FrameMaker, but can be supported by an add-in. It would be a useful feature to have, but my client hasn't needed it so far and is unaware of its existence.

I thought FrameViewer/Reader died an untimely death years ago. Do they really support modern Frame docs?
