Import AI graphic problem (Importing Illustrator 2022 to Framemaker 2022)

I have an Adobe illustrator graphic template designed for a landscape full page in framemaker. The graphic in Illustrator is sized at 8.7 in x 5.87 in. This template has been used through years of Framemaker upgrades. Previously I was using Framemaker 2020, no problems.

After upgrading to Frame 2022, I opened the book, it asked me to link the graphic, and now the anchor frame for a full landscape graphic is a half page landscape anchor frame.

I deleted the graphic and anchor frame and tried to reimport it.  To import the graphic, I put the mouse (I-beam) on a new line, select File>Import>File and select the AI graphic. It still opens up as a half page landscape graphic. The only way I can fix the graphics is select each anchor frame throughout the book and edit the frame back to full page landscape.

Any idea why this is happening?

I attached a photo of the landscape page. In Frame 20, this was a full page graphic. When upgrading to 22, it shrunk the graphic to a half page anchor frame and left the full page landscape anchor frame in tact.

I would really prefer not going through each book editing all the landscape full page anchor frames!

Jason

Are you using Object Styles to control how the graphic should appear?

What file format is being imported? (.svg, .eps, .ai)
Is the import to a Body page or a Master page? (looks like into an AF on a Body)

It's a .ai file onto a body page.  I deleted the text and graphic and just left the anchor frames--what you're seeing is a body page.

You might re-save from AI to .svg & .eps, then import those in turn. If the problem goes away, it may be something related to importing .ai.

I never import .ai or .psd, so have no experience with possible issues (although bloat would be expected).

Hello @stixf16,

Thanks for reaching out. Would you mind sharing some more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, the exact details of your workflow, if Framemaker 2022 is having trouble with all Illustrator files and if yes, links to a few sample files after uploading to Dropbox/Google Drive/etc., and a screen recording of the problem (https://adobe.ly/3VbOBAw), so we can investigate this further?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
