I don't understand the problem. I work with index markers all the time,
and never touch the mouse. It's all done with the keyboard.

I position the insertion point where I want the marker, then press
<ESC>sm to open the marker window. This is a platform-independent
shortcut, three separate key strokes. The Windows ALT+s, m works, too.

Then I type the marker text.

Then I press the <TAB> key.

Then I press the space bar. This inserts the marker and brings focus
back to the document window. The marker window stays open, which is
usually OK.

If I need to close the marker window I either press <ESC>Cm (again,
three separate key strokes) or I press <ESC> when focus is in the marker
window.

If this doesn't do it, can you tell me what you are trying to do? I
might not understand the problem.

Ian
