Recently I started working on Adobe Framemaker version 17.04.628 where in after opening the FM file made in earlier version 10.0.0-.388, I am not seeing any master page on body page in background. Here number of pages are seen as “-1” instead in actual it should show a total 13 pages in the file.
When I print the file it shows verything good as if master page was there but in actual visualisation I can't see one.
Hi,
Do you work with structured or unstructured FrameMaker?
There is always a master page. In the View menu click Master Pages.
Where did you see the number of pages? In the footer of your file?
Or in the window border at the bottom?
In the Format menu in Document and then Numbering you can check the number of the first page.
And when you think that something is wrong, then do a MIF wash: Save as MIF and then take the MIF file and save it as FM again.
Generally it's no problem to open files from

I work wih structured framemaker. Yes mater page is there with the file but the issue is the master page content is not visible as it should be when I see the hard copy print of the file.
Number of pages are seen in the middle rectangular box in the window footer at the bottom. Yes MIF file do show the same master page but here you can edit contents of master page from both "body page" & "master page" as if the contents are copied on top of one another. Well when the MIF file is saved as FM file, the problem reappears as it nothing go changed.

You might be better off contacting the FM folks - see https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/enterprise-support.other.html#framemaker for your Adobe Support options. I'd recommend using the tcssup@adobe.com e-mail address as it reaches a team dedicated to Technical Communication Suite products including FrameMaker.

I do not know, how your structured application looks like.
Do you use DITA? Or another application?
Do you use XML files or regular FM files?
It could be that your structured application uses a template which is saved elsewhere.

After you open the file, go to View > Panels > Console to see if any error messages are written to the Console.
