How do I get a System Variable <paratext[head_1,head_2]> set up for the page header to pick up the last PREVIOUS page head_1 or head_2 rather than the one that appears further down the page on which the header appears? It's a bit misleading to the have the page header not match the top-of-page text that appears under it from the previous section, but have it be the title of the next secion that appears further down that page. Your help appreciated.

The only thing I can think of is to set the section title at the top of the page, which isn't alway possible or desired. The alternative might be to insert a structure in the Edit System Variable below Location: to define "if the section title on this page is more than half-way down the page (or some sort of parameter), then use the previous page section title." ??

Hi Bert:
The <$paratext[tag]> building block will either pick up the first occurrence of the specified tag on the page, or the last occurrence on the page. FrameMaker doesn't have the option to show the text from the previous page when the next head appears part-way down the next page.
Perhaps it can be accomplished with a custom script, but it's not going to be accomplished straight out of the box.

Wow, thanks for quick response. No way of setting up another choices on the Edit System Variable to have "Use first tag on current page" and "Use last tag from previous page"?

No, come to think of it, that wouldn't work, because the header tags are set globally for the document. Even if that were possible to select the tag, I'd have to create a separate running header for each page.

Hi Bert:
No, and the way FrameMaker handles the running heads follows publishing standards. I would just define them as you stated: <$paratext[head_1,head_2]>, and move on to the next issue at hand.
