Paragraph autonumbering jumps backwards? (17.0.4.628, unstructured)

Hi!

I have a 2-column table of instructions. Left column has empty paragraphs with autonumbered text in each row: step1, step2, step3, etc. Right column is an instruction of each row/step. This works correctly in all tables, except in one table.

This problematic table has left column steps like ..., step3, step4, step5, step6, step4, step5, ... so at step7 autonumbering decides to jump back 2 numbers?! All table rows on left coumns have similar empty autonumbered paragraphs, no difference at all. If I add rows before or after the step7 (which shows as step4), the step numbers are always correct. So, there is something odd in this the row step6 that causes numbering to jump 2 numbers backwards in the next row. Only somewhat unique thing is that row step6 (wrong number appears after is) has inset text in right column. I converted inset to text, did not help. I also mif washed the entire file, did not help either.

Any ideas what is going on the step6 row?

Solved it just after posting the question. The inset text had also numbered paragraphs. The inset file and main chapter seem to have common paragraph autonumbering counter (I was not expecting this). Common counter changes my step7 to continue numbering with step4, because the last paragraph number in the inset text was 3. Well, now I know. Case closed.

I think you need to check the sequence characters in autonumbering paragraphs. Are they separate sequences?

If you do not have separate sequences like "A:" and "B:" framemaker will continue numbering from the previous number. I suspect one of your styles is interacting with another - wrong - style.

Another suspect may be the table numbering direction. You can read more about that here:
