Point Page Numbering

I was wondering if there is any way to create a variable to show the next page’s page number.

For example, I have a Master page footer that looks like this: 1P-#/(1P-  Blank)

e.g. body page  1P-5.1/(1P-5.2 Blank)

I normally create a separate Master page (for each separate point page/blank added) and type in the page number in parenthesis.

Can this be done?

Not tested or necessarily fully thought out ...

Put some unique invisible text on each blank page.

(I use pfg fmt "Blank" and map in Master Page "Blank" this way.)

On the previous page, enter a pgf (also invisible text) of say, name

"Forward".

The content of Forward is just an Xref to pgf Blank on the following Blank

page, by <$Pagenum>

Edit System Variable "Running H/F 12" (or other) to:
<$paratext[Forward]>

It has the text for the blank page number.

Use that running h/f in your point page footer construct.

Nothing against the way you're doing it if it's working for you, but there isn't a variable that does what you want.

If I was going to do this, I think I'd invest in Rick Quatro's set of free pagination / point page scripts that manage the entire process for you.

I believe he's got them to the point they're in his catalog at www.frameexpert.com, but I haven't checked lately.

Thanks for the reply Art. We already use Rick's PointPages plug-in, which has become indispensible for our use. I'm going to try Error7103's suggestion and see where I can get with it.
