Hi guys,
normaly you can Open all Files in Book by pressing shift.
After doing so Framemaker opens only the first File of the book.
I suggest it`s since a update of IE or something like that.
It have worked well for a view years but know the function is "gone".
How can i fix it? (Please without re-install if possible)

Hi Kai,
Did you select all files in the book before pressing SHIFT + File | Open?
What is the name of the Open command?
Best regards

Hi Kai,
I do not know what could cause your problem. I also cannot
remember whether this happened to anyone before. Therefore
you could have overlooked something. Did you check the list
of open files in the Window menu? It could be that your file
opened as an icon or hidden behind others (happened to me).
Then you do not see it, although it was opened.
Best regards

Hi Winfried,
i`ve checked it and in our "structured" system you get a report for each opened files, so overlooking nearly impossible for open files.
But i checked it also in the window-view to prof it.
It have worked for a long time. But know it`s "damaged".
My colleague had the same problem too. In his case it helped to press additional the ctrl key to the shift key (don`t ask me why) and know it works again at his station.
Anyhow, thanks for your help.
Best regards from the hot&sunny blackforest

Kai,
Have you tried the esc f O (capital o) shortcut on the bookfile? This should also open all files in the book. If this works, then something is interfering with your keyboard mapping of the function.

i tried to use this shortcut, but the behavior is the same.

Kai,
Is this happening for all books or just some specific ones? Are you opening files across network connections?
Have you tried creating a new book file using local files?

Hi Arnis,
yes we open files over a network connection (structured, component managed system TIM RS).
When i generated local copies (detached from TIM) it works again..
But it has worked in the past..;-(
I can`t work with local copies...thats against our process...

It sounds like your content management system and FM aren't communicating properly. When FM is asking for all of the files, the TIM system only sends the first one. If it worked in the past, other than the IE upgrade, has the TIM system been upgraded recently or does it rely on IE in some way? If so, then this might be a support issue for the vendor of your content management system.

Does it happen consistently, meaning even after a reboot and before you've opened any other applications (especially browser etc), or does it only happen after some period of FM usage and/or opening other apps as well.
Over the years I've experienced FM "forgetting" some keyboard commands; the problem seems to occur when I've been doing intensive editing and file open/closing, and is always cured by a reboot. This happens with ver 7/8/9, on WinXP, 4gigs of RAM.

Hi Sheila,
it happens consistently, even after reboot.
with the keyboard command i got a tip for you:
try to hit alt key and strg (not togehter, just each one time)
most of the time the commands work again (in our environment)
