Using FM2022 Publish to Microsoft HTML Help: Is there a way to have FM only generate the htm files and the HtmlHelp compiler project file? I used to use an older FM2015 or 2017 version and I think it worked that way. I used the Microsoft HTML Help Workshop to finish and build the CHM file from the htm files output by FM.
One reason I am asking is because the resulting CHM file is about 3 times the size of the equivalent CHM file generated using the old FM and the help compiler. I enabled the option to optimize the CHM file size, but it is still too big. Thanks.

The Basic HTML option is for when you'd like to manage the HTML outside of FrameMaker.
My impression is that it's mainly for importing content into a CMS, but perhaps it'll work for your Help Workshop needs.

Hi Matt, the Basic HTML outputs only the .htm files, but not anything I can see to build the index for the HTML Help compiler. The old version of FM produced the compiler project file, which contained the index and TOC.

What patch version of FM2022 are you using? IIRC that might have been fixed in one of the patches.

Jeff, I am using Version: 17.0.3.546, which the FrameMaker Updater says is the latest.

Think that is the latest patch - time to ping the FM folks? See https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/enterprise-support.other.html#framemaker for your Adobe Support options. I'd recommend using the tcssup@adobe.com e-mail address as it reaches a team dedicated to Technical Communication Suite products including FrameMaker.
