Hello,
I did a book and I can publish the PDF.
But when trying to send a review PDF, the document is not readable. I mean the text is changed :s
What option do I need to change to make the PDF for review ok ?
I don't understand.. It is an unstructured FM and I did check the bow "Generate Tagged PDF" as recommended.
Thank you for your support!

That looks like you've used a font that wasn't embedded in the PDF stream. How (what method) did you use to generate it?

Hello Jeff, I am using the font "Futura LT" and to publish the PDF I as using the "publish" button. There it works fine.
But going trough PDF review, it is not working...

How is the PDF review process any different? How are you creating it?

Aren't there controls in that process that allow you to select the PDF Job Options? I believe that's where you can specify embedding of fonts.

Does Review require that each entire font be embedded? (so that reviewers can type characters not necessarily present in the original) If so, embed permissions might be an issue.
That aside, Futura is an appalling typeface (having had to use it once). Great name; nil legibility; letters and numbers are ambiguous. The Latin lowercase "j" is missing entirely.🙄

Hi Bob,
Years ago we also used Futura as our company font, and I can assure you that the lowercase j was in that font. Possibly you had a version from a non-trustworthy provider?
I did not like this font either.
Best regards, Winfried

I was being sarcastic (which has never worked on the internet, I suppose). Yes, the code point is populated, but rendered as ¡ (no hook).

Thank you 🙂 I found out that I had to copy-paste the font from my window folder to the "font" of "ADOBE PDF CREATION" app. Now it is working
Have a nice day,

Hi Sarah,
Very strange! When FrameMaker needs this font for the Adobe PDF Creation app, then it should need it also, when you just publish.
Did you check the option "Use Acrobat Distiller for PDF generation" in the Publish/Settings menu?
Did you create the PDF via FrameMaker or via Distiller?
Best regards, Winfried

What's the "ADOBE PDF CREATION" app? Are you talking about Acrobat Pro?

Hi, Sarah,
what software do you use to open your PDFs?
And what OS are you using? Win10, WIn11?

Stephan

Hello all,
I am using Win11 and the trial version of FM.
The ADOBE PDF creation comes with the installation of FM (I had to remove ADOBE from my PC before installing FM because I could not export PDF and I found a post saying that ADOBE must be removed before because FM do install the PDF editor).
Publishing the PDF through the "Publish" button did always work; but going through an PDF review gave me issues.
In the font folder of the ADOBE PDF creation (installed by FM) I could see that the font "Futura" was missing.
I just did copy it from the font folder of windows (where I did first installed it for PPTX and others app); and now everything is working fine !
About the font, this is not my choice and I am fallowing the company font so I could not change it 😉
Have a nice day
sarah

Hi Sarah,
I admit that I do not understand everything what you wrote.
The setup for FrameMaker 2022 does not install any additional Adobe PDF creation tool. FrameMaker 2022 has its own built-in PDF creation add-on. A separate Adobe PDF creation tool was only needed several versions back (I do not remember, 6 or 8 years back. This was Acrobat Distiller without any user interface.)
And you do not need to de-install any PDF tools before you install FrameMaker. If you found any post, then this was very old and is now outdated.
Or do you have the technical communication suite which has FrameMaker and Acrobat?
Where exactly did you install the fonts? Do you have the path and the folder?
Best regards, Winfried
