You can control the documents settings regarding "empty pages" like this:

In the document go to Format->Page Layout->Pagination. Here you will find this dialogue

FrameMakerdk_0-1724652703498.png

Setting the document to "Delete Empty Pages" will fix the issue.

BUT you should be aware that the OTHER documents in your book file may play tricks with you. If the previous document in the book has been set to start on a right page and delete empty pages - the next document in the book will be in trouble, because an "even page" is missing in order for it to start on a right page. So you need to make sure that you synchronize the numbering/pagination scheme.

More info: Change this setting in the book window! Select a file (or several files) and then right-click and select Pagination. There you can change this setting.

When a file content ends on an uneven page and the next file is set to start also on an uneven page, FrameMaker has to add an empty even page, so that this works. Framemaker does this, when you update the book.

This setting can also come from the paragraph format setting. When pagination of the first paragraph in a file is set to Top of Right (or Left) Page, FrameMaker may also add an empty page.

If you stil want that all files start on an uneven (or even) page, then this is the reason for empty pages. You will have to accept this.

If files do not need to start on an uneven (or even) page, then go to the book file and change the pagination settings of the single files.

That's not difficult.

Select all files which should just follow the previous file and which should not start on a specific (even or uneven) page. When the PDF should be printed, then usually these are all files besides these:

Title (usually uneven page)

Table of contents (usually uneven page)

First page with content (usually uneven page)

Last page of the document (usually even page)

Then right-click and select Pagination. You will get this dialog:

WinfriedReng_0-1724675061099.png

Set everything as in this screenshot. The options are self-explanatory.
