Saving as html

I am using FM9.0p237. I am trying to save a book as a html and the result is a single webpage. I opened the first file in the book, went to utilities >html setup. In the popup, for Paragraph formats, I checked Start new linked web page for my level one headings. Then I again saved the book as html. STill it is showing up as a single page.

Any help would be appreciated.

Frame's SaveAs HTML is notoriously weak....

I use MIF2Go from Omsys.com (there's a free, but crippled eval) you can try out and occasionally RoboHelp through the Tech Comm Suite.

What you describe should work. I bever used it myself, but I saw others using it. Before you make a second try and check little details like exact naming of paragraph formats, you should definitely update your installation to 9.0p277, which is the latest. Either use the built-in update feature or download all necessary updaters from here:

Otherwise I am with Art. If you have XML-structured documents I prefer to save as XML and create my own XML-to-HTML conversion using XSLT.

Key, are you converting a single file to HTML or are you converting a .book to HTML?

For single files: Paragraph tags with “Heading (Auto Level)” are the only ones that will be recognized as being eligible for starting a new web page.

For book file: You’ll need to setup your paragraph tag from the Reference pages, the File>Utilities>HTML Setup interface will not work for you. The Reference pages will allow you to edit the HTML Book functionality. It will also let you edit the single file HTML too, but the HTML Book is only accessible through there. It’s a bit confusing but it will work.

Although there are some quarks with the FrameMaker HTML feature, it is actually very strong. I have been successful creating client websites and web documents using it. I even prefer using it outside of Robohelp and Dreamweaver whenever possible. The strength of the HTML feature is ultimately unleashed by going through the Reference pages and editing your code there.
