I've looked through online help and can't find a shortcut key combination that will allow me to minimize all open document windows associated with a book file. Is there one?

Thanks,

Donna

Did you ever get an answer? This is something that bugs me on a daily basis.

Thanks,

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl- unfortunately no, I haven't found the magic key combination yet. I'd buy a coffee for anyone who could reveal the magic

Donna, Cheryl, just to clarify, do either of you work with multiple books open and therefore just "minimize all" wouldn't do what you want?

Agreed 100% that FM needs to have more keyboard shortcuts, it seems like we're moving backwards from previous versions as far as shortcuts go.

If you haven't yet done so, you might add your voice to the FM Wishes list, here:

https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&product=63

And, if you have FrameScript, ITL has a number of free scripts for working with books:

ANd last but not least, you might find something through the Leximation search tool:

Hi Sheila-

No, I'm not working with multiple books. I have one book and and multiple files (chapters/appendices) in that book that I'm working with. I'd like to minimize all files in a single book...in one fail swoop I've looked through the help file and have found how to close all files in a book with a shortcut key combination (Esc f Shift+c), but nothing that describes how to minimize all open files in the currently opened book.

I'll head over to the 'add a wish' Adobe FrameMaker page and add a suggestion there. Thanks for your help.

Most of the time with just one book, sometimes I am working with multiple books. In an ideal FrameMaker world, I could make use of several new shortcuts and actions:

  • Minimize all open files
  • Minimize all open .fm files
  • Restore (un-minimize) all open book files
  • (From an open book file) Open all .fm files and minimize them

I'll post these in the Wish List.

Thanks,

Cheryl
