FrameMaker table in PowerPoint

Is it possible to put a FrameMaker table into PowerPoint and still have an editable table?

I'm not aware of any way to do it directly, at least without some third-party plugin or similar gadget.

My first thought is to save the FrameMaker based table as an Encapsulated Postscript file (.eps filename extension), then import that Postscript file into P'Point...(?)

You'll probably need to experiment with the EPS export settings to produce a file that P'Point will digest...

My second thought involves converting the table to text, massaging that text into a format such as CSV which can then be turned into an Office table or spreadsheet, and then importing that table into P'Point...

Never done this, but some folks on these forums talk about exporting Frame files to Word format or RTF. If that results in a good table in Word, I would think importing it from Word to PowerPoint would result in an editable table because PowerPoint and Word are both part of Office. But one never knows what Microsoft applications are able to do.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was able to save the FrameMaker file as Word, and open the table in Word. The table lost all but it's most basic formatting. I was then able to copy and paste the table into PowerPoint. If there was a way for the table to keep it's FrameMaker formatting, this would be a great solution.

I don't think that it's possible because FM isn't an OLE server, it's only a [somewhat cranky] OLE client.

Do you have to do a lot of this type of conversion work?

Sheila is correct. You could do it the other way around, but again, referring to Sheila's post, it is a process fraught with risk. FrameMaker's OLE capability can be unpredictable.
