Importing WMF files to FrameMaker 9

Explorer ,
Feb 02, 2011 Feb 02, 2011

Hello,

I have to import WMF graphic files into a FrameMaker 9 document. Usually when importing graphics I use the DPI setting option to resize it to my needs. In WMF graphics the DPI option is unavailable. And the imported graphic is imported at a certain default size. What is the best way to control the import of WMF files?  Why does it behave differently than .png, .jpg, etc.?

( FrameMaker 9, on Windows XP pro.)

Many thanks,

Donna

Donna,

a WMF file is a vector graphics file (like AI or EPS, just lower quality), not a bitmap file like PNG, BMP or JPG. A vector file doesn't have a resolution like a bitmap file, that's what makes it "vector". Without 3rd party tools/plug-ins you control the size after importing it, by setting the scale in the object properties dialog. If you want it to be done automatically on import, you'll need either this plug-in or FrameScript plus the corresponding scripts.
