Adobe Illustrator Keeps Crashing – Anyone Else?

Lately, Adobe Illustrator has been testing my patience.
Whether i make a copy on simple vectors or larger projects, it randomly freezes, lags, or just vanishes. No error, no warning – just gone.

 

I’ve tried:

  • Updating to the latest version

  • Clearing preferences

  • Disabling GPU performance

  • Reducing file size & artboards

  •  

Still, the crashes keep happening. 😅
It’s frustrating when deadlines are tight and hours of work vanish in a click.

 

Is this just me, or is Illustrator going through a “mid-life crisis”?
If you’ve found a fix (or at least a way to make it crash less), I’m all ears. 🙌

Hello, this is a stability issue that is being reported from multiple sources.  Illustrator crashes when using the Copy command on Windows. Began after a mid-July Microsoft Security Update. Impacts both current (29.x) and earlier versions, including 28.x LTS. It is not impacting Ps, Id and other Adobe apps. The team is actively working with Microsoft to identify the root cause and fix. I'll keep you updated.

Hello @Bobby31107015dr60 Latest update : We believe the issue was caused by a recent Microsoft Defender update impacting certain system calls (Ole32.dll). Microsoft has released a fix in Defender version 1.435.146.0 or later.

 

Request you to kindly update Microsoft Defender to the latest version and see if the issue is resolved. Please refer to the latest release notes: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/definitions/antimalware-definition-release-notes?requestVersion...
