Mouse Cursor Disappears on Artboard/Canvas

Community Beginner ,
Oct 14, 2025 Oct 14, 2025

The cursor (Pen Tool icon) completely disappears as soon as it enters the artboard/canvas area. It reappears only when moved back over the panels or menu bar. No error message is displayed.

Hello Smriti,

Thank you for your quick response and for looking into this issue.

I have isolated the exact trigger for the cursor disappearance and have prepared the requested materials.

1. The Trigger/Workaround:

The cursor disappears immediately after I press $\text{Ctrl}+\text{F}$ to enter Full Screen Mode and then press Escape to exit it.

  • When I press Ctrl F and then Esc, the cursor disappears on the artboard.

  • Workaround: If I repeat the action press Ctrl F and then Esc again, the cursor reappears and returns to normal.

Hi Smriti,

Thank you again for looking into the previous cursor issue. I have a second, more critical issue to report concerning severe performance degradation in the latest Illustrator Beta.

The application is experiencing significant lag, where drawing a new line or attempting to move an existing stroke causes the action to "stick" and makes movement very difficult. This is currently blocking core drawing workflows.

1. Performance Bug Details

Product/Version: Adobe Illustrator Beta (Version 30.1)

Operating System: Windows 11

The Problem: Severe drawing lag/stutter, making line creation and stroke manipulation extremely difficult.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open any document.

  2. Select a drawing tool (e.g., Pen Tool (P) or Pencil Tool (N)).

  3. Attempt to draw a path—the drawing lags, stutters, or is delayed.

  4. Alternatively, select an existing stroke and attempt to drag/move it—the movement is sluggish and unresponsive.

Expected Result: Lines should be drawn and strokes should be moved smoothly and instantly.

2. Previous Cursor Bug Update

For completeness, here is the exact trigger for the cursor issue I reported previously:

  • Trigger/Workaround: The cursor disappears on the artboard immediately after pressing Ctrl F (Full Screen Mode) and then Esc (Exit Full Screen).

  • Workaround: Repeating the action pressing Ctrl F and then Esc again restores the cursor.

I am including this as both issues might be related to the same underlying display or GPU rendering problem in this Beta build.
