Beta Build 29.9.14 Release Notes

Adobe Employee ,
Aug 18, 2025 Aug 18, 2025

Hello, 🙂

Latest Beta Build 29.9.14 is now available in CCD. We have below fixes in this build

  • Lock Artboards:
    You asked, and we listened!
Now you can lock entire artboards with just one click.

Why you’ll love it:
1. Prevents accidental edits to an artboard and its contents.
2. Keeps overlapping artboards neat and manageable.
3. Still lets you unlock individual objects when needed.

How it works:
1. In the Artboards panel, select one or more artboards and click Lock.
2. All objects on those artboards lock automatically.
3. To edit a specific object, simply unlock it from the Layers panel.

Give it a try and let us know what you think. Your feedback helps us shape what comes next!

  • Turntable Feature:
We’re excited to introduce Turntable— a feature that lets you “turn” your 2D artwork to view it from different angles. With just a few steps, you can generate multiple views without redrawing from scratch.
Whether you’re creating character sheets, animation, product views, or assets, Project Turntable helps you produce different angles faster, more consistently, and in your original style.

What Turntable Can Do
1. Rotate Your Drawing — Adjust your artwork horizontally or vertically to explore new angles.
2. Preserve Your Style — AI keeps your original colors, style, and lines consistent.
3. Generate New Views — Quickly create side, front, or back views from the same illustration.
4. Work Safely — Your original file remains untouched; new views are generated separately.

How to Get Started
1. Select Your Artwork - Works best with clean, real-world vector art.
2. Group Your Artwork - Combine all parts of your design into one group for better results.
3. Click Turntable - Click Turntable in the control bar or properties panel.
4. Preview and Navigate Views - All views are generated automatically. Use the slider to switch between angles.
5. Insert a View - To place a generated view on your canvas, click Insert View.
6. Use the arrows to change elevation angle and reset to return to the original pose

Tip: For the most accurate results, use artwork with clear outlines, no background and real world objects.

Why is there no Illustrator Beta What’s New page just like Photoshop has? I find Adobe’s web properties so inconsistent. Why there’s no systematic informational pages across InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Lightroom Classic **both** beta and non-beta apps is bewildering for a company with Adobe’s resources.

Hello @fuzenco we are working on it. As the Beta build is released every week, it it difficult to update HelpX that often. We can also have a Top Features in Beta list on our page - https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/illustrator-beta-desktop-app.html Do let me know if that's what you are looking for.

Also, we have a What's New window in the app. Have you tried that? Do you face any challenges?

I am aware of that page but why the Illustrator version doesn’t mirror the Photoshop version (which also changes frequently) is what I find hard to understand. Even milestone features that are in the beta should be listed just like with the Photoshop beta. It’s not mission-critical but it would be nice to have consistency in how Adobe communicates their product lines.

Hello @felix_Riesen1011 can you please logout of your creative cloud account and log in back to see if you see Illustrator Beta listed in Beta apps. If not, then it maybe a permission issue from your/ your organization's end.

I really like the Turntable feature. A long waited one that I am sure many of use have been waiting in antisipation since it's reveal in last years MAX event. However, as great as the feature is, I do have some 2 cents worth of feedback if you'll allow me. Disclaimer, I know it's in beta and still lots to do and be refined.

Suggestions/Feedback:
1. Have the Turntable view create a fully interactive "3D-like" model. Basically, if a user clicks and holds down the middle mouse button (mouse3), then the cursor changes to a different icon indicating they are able to now drag to rotate the new "3D-like" turnable in a 360 direction. No longer needing to keep clicking the up or down arrows, or dragging from left to right on the slider. Instead once generated, the user can simple rotate the generated turnable into any view they need. This allows the user to not be limited to the "fixed" controls but have flexibility.

2. This is purely subjective but could prove to be useful. It would be great that once the views are generated and the user is reviewing the views, they can go in and make a slight edit or design change to the newly generated view(s) and click "re-generate views" to allow Turntable to take the changes into account and generate new views with more percise and refined versions of the views. Ultimately, this would be useful and allow for that extended polish that this feature needs.

3. Furthuremore, and this is coming from more of a use-case or extended functionality point of view, but once the "3D-like" turntable is generate into views, it would be amazing in the user could somehow Compile + Export the views into a .fbx or .obj model for use in After Effects, Blender, Animator and other 3D animation apps. This would completely revolutionise the Animating workflow by allowing quick 3D assets to be generate, tweaked, and exported for such a high demanding industry.

4. Lastly, and this ties in with point 3. Although Illustrator is purely vector based, and purely designed to create artwork only, I would suggest furthure integration of Turntable variations in say Photoshop, After Effects and Animator. Although it sounds odd, but since generative AI is becoming more the norm in many ways, Turntable for images that are pixel based not vector based could fully change the game. For example, I had a shoe I wanted to see a different of to use in an advert, however the shoe I had shot on the day wasn't correct. Now imagine in Photoshop I could use Turntable to generate more accurate different views of the shoe. This would change the game.

Anyways. These are just my thoughts and ideas. Overall, the feature is amazing so far and I am confident that the Adobe team will continue refining it.

Hi @Sassy_Llama

On point 2
This is now possible in Illustrator, please try and let us know what you think

Steps:
1. Select the art
2. Click on Turntable
3. Once you have found a prefered angle click on issert pose to duplicate that view
4. You can now perform any type of edits on the rotated variation. Please keep in mind that once you edit a view the rotated variation will be lost so creat a copy before edit
5. Once you are done with the edit you can click on Turntable again and it will take care of the chnages you made

Thanks for the lovely feedback. let us know what you think.
