3D & Wireframes
A square was made by Align Stroke to Center. This square made into 3D cube & converted into wireframe. Why do they call it Expand as wireframes? because expand means increasing the size.

"Expand" in Illustrator means converting effects and other live attribute to paths or if that is not possible: pixels.
